Admiral Jack Romanoff and his crew have one remaining nut to crack before they can turn their attention to the people that overthrew the Confederation. The Vesuvius system has become a fortress, so it won’t be an easy fight, but it is one they cannot lose and survive.
When force alone won’t do the trick, add guile.
Since brute force won’t work, Jack must turn to guile to exploit the enemy’s weaknesses. Only then can he achieve victory without a tremendous loss of human life. And that’s before an unexpected complication threatens to undo everything they’ve accomplished and plunge the cluster back into brutal war with an enemy determined to exterminate or enslave them.
Confronted by stronger enemies, Jack has to turn their strength against them. Somehow.

Who Woulda Thought...
I had given up on this series, but decided since I was so close to the end that I might as well grit my teeth and finish it out. I'm glad I did! Who woulda thought that Terry Mixon would actually put some of his characters (ok ok, one of his characters) in mortal danger? It's about time! The result? A fairly compelling story and at least a chapter or two of intrigue and nail biting drama. Honestly, most of a book like this should be like that, but baby steps... at least he's getting better.

Great addition

This is the part I dislike
I purchased the first 8 books and binged them. Book 11 under siege was really good. Now readers have to wait for Implacable Resolve. I hate waiting.

Every new volume is like going back and seeing old friends. Under Siege finally introduces us to the forces of Castellara in their pursuit of the Novarites. The first half, though somewhat plodding sets up the second half of the story.
Great narration as with every book in the series.
