Story
Murdoc Jern's father, an interstellar gem trader, was murdered by outlaw competitors and left behind an odd ring, large enough to fit over the finger of a space suit. With his companion Eet, a strange feline mutant with phenomenal mental powers, he soon discovered that the stone in the ring was actually a Zero Stone - an alien device left behind by an ancient vanished race - and it was the key to powers beyond human imagination. Murdoc and Eet had to solve the secret of the Zero Stone, and very quickly, because very greedy and dangerous people wanted that ring.

Kindred Spirit
I have never read Jacci Turner's work before. I'm glad I did. The way she described the wet, earthy smell of old growth forest made me feel like I was in it again. I live in the desert now, and my heart ached with her descriptions. Maybe I'm a singer, too, because I miss that connection on a spiritual level. If you like communing with forests, this book is for you. The narrator did a great job with the different voices and was an enjoyable listen.

What a wonderful book!
Listening to the adventures of Mayten and her companions, including trees, the stars, animals and a delightful mix of humans, my mind and heart keep returning to the rich interplay of characters and themes of this wonderful book. With Mayten, we explore complex relational dynamics between people, between science and other ways of knowing and relating, along with a rich exploration of how humans can live in sync with the natural world. A dynamic story which kept me eager to keep listening!

An incredibly pleasant journey!
First I will start out by saying that the narrator, Barbara Bond, does such an amazing job! Her voices and beautiful singing really drag you into the story and acquaint you with the characters. The author's writing is so incredibly descriptive- awakening your senses to join the journey. This story is about family, friendship, and how loyalty and bravery can get you through to the other side of hardships. Mayten, the main character, develops effortlessly in tune with the story being told. I love all of the nature elements throughout, giving crispy detail of the beautiful spirit nature brings to Earth and to us. I recommend this book to anyone looking for an escape of an exciting quest!

Amazing work by Jacci Turner and Barbara Bond
This is my first time reading/listening to a work by Jacci Turner but I will absolutely be reading more. It’s impossible not to fall in love with Mayten right away and want to keep exploring the world Turner created. Barbara Bond’s narration really brings the story to life and adds another layer to an already brilliant story. Bravo!

Tree singer is a top ten hit
Jacci has done it again with this compelling story that develops lovable characters that portray compassion, honesty, courage, and real life feelings. I looked forward to listen to the book each day and wanted more at the conclusion. The book could also promote discussion of current topics. Perfect for classrooms. The book is appropriate for all age levels. I know because I am a young thinking old lady.

Transported!
I so enjoyed being transported to this world. The author paints a beautiful picture and draws you into a world where the natural world is basked in and respected. I loved being part of this world and getting to know the main characters and the communities they inhabit. I could almost smell the forest and the trees. The narration is sensitive and easy on the ears. Very pleasant to listen to, which is really important in an audio book.
When I reached the end, I found myself wanting to know more about what happens to the characters and to stay in this world a little longer. Hoping this may be the first book in a series!

Action, Mystery, and a Quest
Mayten has been trained to be a Tree Singer, a person who communicates and listens to the trees. Her mother is also a Tree Singer and the head of the village. While it is Mayten’s hope to study under her that is not the case. Mayten and two of her friends are deemed critical to aid in a quest. Faced with this deadly quest, Mayten must face her fears, uncertainty, treachery, and an evil that is killing her trees.
The author, Jacci Turner is a talented author who paints the world of Mayten vividly with rich descriptions. Turner also accurately portrays the emotions around the group of friends in an authentic manner. The dialog is realistic and moves the story forward appropriately. Each character is well-developed with depth and personality. The storyline was developed as well with plot twists that reflect betrayal and growth. Not only was the plot well executed but the plot twists were unexpected.
The narrator, Barbara Bond gives a solid performance. Each character has a unique voice that is consistent and fits with their personality and purpose. Her cadence is smooth and steady. Whether she is speaking or singing, her performance is first-class.
This is a steady-paced fantasy with action, adventure, and interesting characters. I enjoyed this story and find it highly pleasurable regards of your age.
There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook. It was clear and crisp.
