About this listen

Major Brooke Grant must track down the double agent who is infiltrating the US Government in this international thriller from influential politician Newt Gingrich and Pulitzer Prize finalist Pete Earley.

Brooke Grant has been waging war against terrorism since her parents were murdered during 9/11, keenly aware that violence transcends borders. But after a coordinated attack on the president at a Washington power broker's funeral, she realizes that the enemy is closer than she'd ever imagined, hiding in plain sight. The Falcon has gained a weapon no terrorist has ever wielded before: An American-born traitor burrowed inside the US Government itself. Major Grant's deadly chess match with the Falcon turns personal when he issues a fatwa against her and those she loves. Can she unmask the traitor and stop the Falcon's most skilled assassin sent to kill her before he strikes? Or will she fall victim to betrayal by a false friend in this gripping story of treachery, courage, and the patriotic fight against evil?

In this realistic tale of modern-day treason, a nation fights for its life against an internal threat: A fanatical jihadist who uses liberty as a shield while trying to destroy the civilization created in its image. With decades of knowledge in national security and politics, only Newt Gingrich and Pete Earley could spin such a vivid mix of reality and fiction - a pause-resister that dares listeners to guess where the line between the two is crossed.

Meh

I love Newt, so I really expected to love this book, but... He obviously knows how Washington operates, and we all know terrorism is knocking at our door. Idk. Maybe it was the voice actor's stupid female voices that threw me off the most. Like some of my favorite Star Wars books, the one actor who does the best reading and voices otherwise, really sucks at doing female voices. Same here.

It's about time!

I loved this book! It's about time someone wrote about the realities of the evil in the world and the evil within America. This book is captivating from beginning to end. Adventure! Intrigue! This book kept me on the edge of my seat!

Pretty Predictable

The story had some twists and turns but it became predictable and the dialog between characters was at times lame. The one true saving grace was the narrator he is excellent

Excellent - Nothing like I anticipated

As others noted, this is the audio version of a page-turner with enough twists and turns to keep the listener interested and guessing. There are a few predictable items since it is part of a series. However, this is one of those books that if you listen to it while driving or flying, you don't want to reach your destination too soon or want to be delayed in route to have more listening time.

Written in the third person there is more than enough believability and unique characters creating an interesting political thriller. Hopefully, the third in the series is released soon.

Main characters not very likable

Except for Walks Many Miles, I didn't care for the edginess of the main characters. Although some were altruistic, they weren't very likable.

Nice Work!!

A book that makes you ask your self if this is happening right now in our own country. And if you really look at the past. You can see it happening. And we should really start paying attention!!

Main Character is a spoiled brat.

I liked the story but could not make it through the first book. because of the main character, Brooke Grant. She came accross constantly as a person who walked around with a chip on her shoulder. She doesn't like being treated special because of her uncle's rank, yet she expects special treatment because of her gender and race. She's rude, conceded and for the tank she holds she is an embarrassment to the Marine Corp.
She disrespectful to all the men, except the married man she was in love with. She was disrespectful to other cultures especially if they were male. She acted like everyone should kiss her hand and kiss her butt. I bought both books because Newt Gingrich was a Co-author and I like his writings. I didn't make it through the first book and when I saw Captain Brooke Grant as now Major Brooke Grant I tagged finished and deleted from my phone. Next I decided to write a review hoping to same others from making my mistake.
