About this listen

The beast that walks like a man feeds beneath a blood-red Texas moon.

Billy Ed and Dory Barnes left the honky-tonk in Tombley's Walk on a warm Texas night. They were looking for a little privacy. They never returned.

Billy Ed's body was found soon after, ripped to pieces by a savage, wolf-like creature that walked on two legs. Dory survived the brutal attack. But she has been changed into something horribly, inexplicably... different.

As a full moon bathes the town in terror, the residents bolt their doors in fear of the night. But no lock will keep out the unspeakable horror that has infected the once-sleepy Texas community - a gruesome evil that won't be sated until the last drop of human blood is drained from Tombley's Walk.

A good read but not great

I enjoyed the read but it wasn’t my favorite. The storyline was there with a few stalls of interest. There were several times during the read I was left thinking “hey that section was like what I saw in this and that movie or read the same in a previous book”. But all in all it is a good book.

Decent horror fun, but it kept losing me...

Would you consider the audio edition of Tombley's Walk to be better than the print version?

I wouldn't know about the print version, but I can say that the narrator may not be everyone's cup of tea. He's very accent and character heavy, sometimes to the point of distraction. Having said that, he's talented and pulls it off for the most part.

If you’ve listened to books by A. W. Gray before, how does this one compare?

Can't comment.

What about Stephen R. Thorne’s performance did you like?

His commitment to have a unique voice for every character.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I enjoyed the main character's reveal.

Any additional comments?

Hard to recommend, but I didn't dislike it.

Better Than Most

Occasionally, I purchase fiction just for mindless fun rather than anything deep or meaningful. I was surprised by the amount of character development.
There is a dry humor that the narrator excelled at presenting.
If you like humor, horror and an aged lounge lizard who refers to herself in the third person, this is your book.

Okay its Supernatural, but writing is great

First I apologize in advance, this is written on my iPhone without my reading glasses,

I only purchased this because I wanted to read all of Gray's work. I admit to being obsessed with Mr Gray. That said, this was a fantastic read.

What makes King's horror so captivating is characters we all identity with. So it with Gray. This is as well written, well conceived as any of King's works.

The narrAtor was weak at first, but I quickly got used to him. He never got in the story's way.
Do yourself a favor and give this one a whirl

Salems 'Lot with Werewolves

Fun premise, interesting characters and setting, even if non-traditional lycanthropes occasionally derail a straightforward yarn.

Not what you would expect and not in a good way

This book started off okay but it's really not a good book. Some of the problems with this book starts with one of the characters talking about herself in the 3rd person and referring to herself as "Little Dory" when she's late 40s; the author's overuse of the phrase "her backside twitching. There were also parts of the book which had absolutely nothing to do with the plot - such as domestic violence, the sexual abuse of a 5 year old girl and animal abuse which I found to be very disturbing. Not sure if the monsters were werewolves or zombie werewolves. I would not recommend o anyone.
