About this listen

A NEW SOLO NOVEL IN DAVID WEBER'S NYT BEST-SELLING HONORVERSE

“It is our duty to pay for our liberty with our own blood. The freedom that we shall win through our sacrifice and exertions, we shall be able to preserve with our own strength.” —Subhas Chandra Bose

Lieutenant Brandy Bolgeo has come home from the Battle of Hancock station wounded in both body and spirit.

She will need months to regenerate her lost leg, but how long will it take to heal her heart?

She’s come home to find that her wounds, her ship’s brutal damage, the deaths of so many friends, were the fault of an arrogant, aristocratic coward who broke and ran in the face of the enemy. Who left her ship to pay the price for his craven desertion under fire. And whose powerful political allies are determined to protect and preserve him at any price.

Was worried at the start and Happy and sad at the end

I was pretty worried when it started and it seemed like it was a lift from Field of Dishonor. but then he wrapped up sitting the time and place and we moved on. Every time Harkness came into the picture I started laughing and may have almost swerved off the road once. I look forward to learning more about the other characters during these critical times.

A great revisit!

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. I actually enjoyed it more than field of Dishonor. You got to revisit that book from different points of view and you got to see how it was distressing for those that were peripheral to the central story. Thank you Mr. Weber for another enjoyable story.

Love the Perspective

Yes, we knew the bones of the story. So happy to hear it from others point of view. Enriches the experience.

Deja Vu

When I first purchased this audio book, I thought it was the continuation after the war because I completely expected there to be pockets of resistance. It wrapped up too nicely. I was pleasantly surprised as this was like seeing different scenes of a movie from across the room from the first time. As much as I appreciate these perspectives, I would hope to see the aftermath of Uncompromising Honor.

Always love more details

More detail on the duals, but skipped over the unpleasantness on Grayson. I hope the next book goes more into the Skydomes disaster and hits on that strange sport, "baseball".

Short Story with Copy-pasted filler from other books

I'm 11 hours into this 17 hour book and the character it's supposedly about may have had an hour of time with the rest being copy-paste of previously released books.

It's a short story with massive amounts of already released filler

Great Story

This was a great story with a nice tie in to the earlier books. It's also nice to hear about what else was going on while Honor was doing other things.

Replay of old text but adds context and depth to previous characters and scenes

I am in absolute awe of the honorverse series. It has captivated my attention for years now, but I must say I am disappointed with this new book. Using the term, NEW isn’t correct because it is entirely snips of previous books played out.

I realize the intent is to add context to background stories and what not but I had sincerely hoped for a continuation of the story line. To each their own, but I am left disappointed and I feel like my money spent on this book was a waste because I’m rereading material that I’ve already purchased.

Book 15, a let down.. sadly

Yet another good book by the writer, yet the fans will be very, very let down.

As book 15, the reader expects to see the continued story from book 14, and not yet "another" spin off...

In the notes at the end, one resion for the book was aspect of the story David wanted to revisit, really!
(perhaps a rewire of original book might have been considered)

Readers have waited so long for book 15, to read about the relationship between Manticore and the Haven, and also the Sol Federation..about the secret order manipulation everyone.. about the Honor steading evern here children..

Readers will aske why the main story line has been abandoned. As a long time reader, I would ask to have less Honor Spin Offs and to continue the main story line.

David, your a great writer, and I thank you for books.

Bait and switch

1. I really like the Honorverse Series. This one was supposed to be about another character rising up through the ranks. It was mostly about reliving The Field of Dishonor. I own that book and could of just reread it. I think it should have been a sprinkling of Honor instead of the other way around. You could of done better David Weber.
