About this listen

A NEW SOLO NOVEL IN DAVID WEBER'S NYT BEST-SELLING HONORVERSE

“It is our duty to pay for our liberty with our own blood. The freedom that we shall win through our sacrifice and exertions, we shall be able to preserve with our own strength.” —Subhas Chandra Bose

Lieutenant Brandy Bolgeo has come home from the Battle of Hancock station wounded in both body and spirit.

She will need months to regenerate her lost leg, but how long will it take to heal her heart?

She’s come home to find that her wounds, her ship’s brutal damage, the deaths of so many friends, were the fault of an arrogant, aristocratic coward who broke and ran in the face of the enemy. Who left her ship to pay the price for his craven desertion under fire. And whose powerful political allies are determined to protect and preserve him at any price.

A great revisit!

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. I actually enjoyed it more than field of Dishonor. You got to revisit that book from different points of view and you got to see how it was distressing for those that were peripheral to the central story. Thank you Mr. Weber for another enjoyable story.

Great Story

Expands and celebrates characters we enjoy and care about. An excellent addition to the Honorverse.

If it were a TV series, these two episodes would be called fillers.

Reminds me of last year's newspaper comment section. Half of the stuff you remember so you don't need additional info and/or new points of view, half you just don't care about after so long.

Was worried at the start and Happy and sad at the end

I was pretty worried when it started and it seemed like it was a lift from Field of Dishonor. but then he wrapped up sitting the time and place and we moved on. Every time Harkness came into the picture I started laughing and may have almost swerved off the road once. I look forward to learning more about the other characters during these critical times.

Love the Perspective

Yes, we knew the bones of the story. So happy to hear it from others point of view. Enriches the experience.

Deja Vu

When I first purchased this audio book, I thought it was the continuation after the war because I completely expected there to be pockets of resistance. It wrapped up too nicely. I was pleasantly surprised as this was like seeing different scenes of a movie from across the room from the first time. As much as I appreciate these perspectives, I would hope to see the aftermath of Uncompromising Honor.

New views of an old story

I like the author’s afterward. He wanted to revisit some characters killed off in later books, and to add some detail. I enjoyed it. There were a few fresh battles and new stirring speeches, both Webber fortes. AJ’s voice has aged a bit but it was great to hear here excellent narration with these characters again. I will buy the others in this expanded series when they come out.

Not a new story, and elaborating of old events

First I want to say I have no respect for calling this book fifteen. That was a calculated deception, and it certainly hurt weber's credibility in my eyes.
This should've been another series without implication that it was going to further the current timeline.
The book has all the usual style and storytelling. That weber is known for. plenty of his repetitive bomb pumped laser commentary.
A good elaboration on events that were taking place outside of honors primary storyline.
And though the authors commentary at the end and his sentimentality for characters, we've all loved and lost at the end of uncompromising honor is poignant.... I and many others want to know what the hell happens next.
There are still questions unanswered, and the manticor empire goes on into the next generation.... That's a story I would like to hear.
