About this listen

Chief Detective David Wolf's son has a new girlfriend, and when she discovers her father - a well-known man in ancient fossils trade circles-has been murdered, she and the rest of her shattered family turn to Wolf to bring them justice.

With the help of a small town sheriff and a retired police dog named Jet, Wolf follows the clues to a dig site in western Colorado, where secrets have been entombed for eons, and people are dying to keep them that way.

In a place where killing monsters are buried under the earth, it becomes clear there are still some roaming topside, and in this suspense-filled seventh installment of the David Wolf Mystery Thriller series, Wolf must keep his wits or it will be his bones found next.

To the Bone

This was an interesting book. It was fast paced and never dull. The use of paleontology kept it lively and very interesting. I would recommend it to anyone.

Another winnet

Great book for Audible on a long trip. Easy to track characters and in keeping with Carson's other books

Such a talented Wordsmith.

I’m now half way through the David Wolf series. I know I’m reading faster that Jeff can write. So, Mr. Carson, keep pounding those keys. Maybe the best series I’ve ever read.

Loved the story

I loved the story! I had visited Dinosaur National Park and am so curious and enchanted by all those amazing fossils and their discovery.
Sean Patrick Hopkins did a great job narrating, as there are several different characters. Since there were so many. I had a hard time recalling who was who, with audible.

Love, love, love David Wolf..

Another good David Wolf book! This one was about murder and the discovery of 2 dinosaur skeletons found in Colorado and the people who tried to sell one set secretly and the 4 or 5 people who were killed over it.

This is the 7 book I’ve read about David Wolf and I’ve enjoyed every one of them. (Well, book 6, not so much.)

There was no romance and the F-bomb was used 4 times.

As to the narration: Sean Patrick Hopkins does a great job with the voices, the females have gotten much better, but I wish he’d read with a little more emotion. He’s kind of monotone through the entire book. Everyone sounds rather bored all the time.

Kind of Slow

This book was just too slow for me and the story line isn't something I was interested in.

Feels Abridged - It had Potential

The plot had potential but it was a bit thin in fleshing out the villain's motive and methods, the characters and locations. The whole book/story is a light on details and depth - it feels like an abridged production. We skim over barely touching details on personalities, locations, moods, character development - just too thin. Sometimes the characters feel one dimensional because the lack of depth. With the lack of depth also came a lack of tension, intrigue and suspense. A minimalist novel. As a stand alone, I don't recommend this book but if you have read or listened to others in the series you will get more out of it because you will have some previous knowledge of the characters and backstory. This is a rather weak novel in the series.
