Savory plot burdened by excess "spice"

Legal and medical scenarios interplay effectively and characters are well-developed in an effective "who-done-it." Additional angles of view are seen in glimpses of the wealthy, the middle-class, lower class, and finally, the slime of Miami. Narrator's voice was typically grating, but cast an appropriate edginess to the setting. Definitely not necessary to the story was overdose of gratuitous sexual detail.
