FROM THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR

Thrown Away Child
is a memoir covering Louise Allen’s abusive childhood in a foster home, how she survived - using her love of art as a sanctuary - and how she hopes to right old wrongs now by fostering children herself and campaigning for the improvement of foster care services. It is a compelling and inspirational story. This book gives a voice to the many children who grew up unhappily in care.©2017 Louise Allen (P)2018 Simon & Schuster Audio

This book made me cry. This child went through terrible, horrible treatment. I can’t even imagine how someone can treat a child like this.

Excellent!

I am so sorry things like this happen to children. This book is an eye opening book about how bad a child’s life can be. I wish I could scoop up every single unwanted, abandoned and abused child and love them and take care of them.
Thank you for sharing your story with us.

She had my attention from the beginning

Great story. A lot of the abuse she endured was the same in my childhood. It was almost like listening to my own childhood at times but I lived with my biological family and was finally rescued by my foster family.

Could have been my story…

I loved everything about this book over half of it I relate to,once been a victim of child abuse and being neglected by the system here in the U.S she practically crawled so I can walk. I have no reason to ever give up and do nothing in life because she overcame so much. Really more than I faced. She turned out to be such a lovely beautiful person God bless the author very much

I would recommend this book to those who are interested in learning about how the foster care system fails children. This story is about a girl who went through all types of abuse after being put with a foster family who was already being investigated for child cruelty. Her foster/adoptive mother was her abuser and she herself had also been brutally abused as a child. It is very common for foster children to have family members who have also been a part of the system. It is a generational cycle.

A true story about a child in the foster care system

You’re a very strong person to put up with such an abusive Mother figure. You are very caring woman to go back and be able to care for the woman who abused you your whole childhood. And now take in foster children yourself is amazing and to want to protect them since no one did that for you.

Sad but amazing story
