About this listen

Tara Shiloh knows she's not a drug addict. She's positive she's a good mother and hard worker. So why is she in an alley with a needle in her arm? Waking up in the hospital without her son is terrifying. Being told she can't have him back nearly crushes her. With her memory spotty and the circumstances incriminating, Tara must fight to learn the truth and wrestle with the idea that maybe her son is better off without her.

Reid Holliston defends guilty people for a living and it's slowly killing him. He's certain there is no such thing as a truly blameless client anymore. When his phone rings with a voice from his childhood, his jaded views make him certain Tara is just one more criminal claiming innocence. But even his skepticism isn't enough to keep him away.

Best friends from a lifetime ago, the two must find a way to trust each other again in spite of how the years apart have changed them. Can a promise made in childhood be enough to save them both?

A great story that would be a nightmare for most!

A great story that spotlights the tenacity of a good mother fighting to protect her son as well as her indomitable spirit. There were touching moments and moments I wanted to help her hurt someone!

This was a good story and an enjoyable listen!

Three Seconds to Rush

Three Seconds to Rush: Piper Anderson Legacy Mystery, Volume 1
: Danielle Stewart

This mystery is fairly quick to listen to. The characters are interesting to a point. Unfortunately the plot was predictable and I figured the villain from the beginning. I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't a big surprise twist. As this is volume one, I assume the next book to pick up where this on ends. I will give it a try to see if it has a bit more suspense.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Laura Jennings voice was pleasant.

Crime Thriller with a Second Chance HEA

Any additional comments?

I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom. I really enjoyed the writing and the narrating of this audiobook that I looked up others by the same author. I'm curious about the other series featuring characters that made an appearance in this story. This book was a great mystery, thriller with a clean romantic element that didn't overpower the story, but your anxious for the two main characters to get a HEA. I have listened to Laura Jennings narrating performance in another series and really enjoy her performances and how she brings the characters and stories to life. I look forward to listening to other audiobook she performs. I highly recommend this audiobook and encourage you to look for others by the same author and narrators works.

3 seconds to Rush

Where does Three Seconds to Rush rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This story Ranks about a 7.5.

What did you like best about this story?

The storyline was good. Although I know they mention three seconds to rush in the story, I'm not sure I fully understood what it meant. I found that you really needed listen to the story because it jumped back & forth to when they were kids to the present time. Since I listen to them while I work I felt that I sometimes missed something.

Have you listened to any of Laura Jennings’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

no, I don't think I've listened to her before but I liked her performance

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

if I was reading this book I probably would've wanted to do it all in one sitting. Listening to it...I wouldn't have been able to. I can't sit still long enough to listen to it all at once.

HOOKED FROM START TO FINISH!

I absolutely enjoyed this book from the first sentence. I may have guessed early on at who done what but the journey with the characters as they figure it out is worth it. The perfect balance of mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat with just the right amount of romance. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys really well written mysteries. Perfect Narrator for the book making it easy to get absorbed in the story.

Had potential

What does Laura Jennings bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Solid narration adds quite a bit more to this story. I had a love-hate relationship with the characters throughout this book. I loved Willow the strong, compassionate woman on a mission. Tara, the main character, sent me back and forth between the two. Reid I just did not care for most of the story. The premise is strong, but the execution was lacking. I had an idea within the first twenty percent of the book what had happened. The frustration from the start of the book for me was that I could clearly see where things were heading, yet the characters could not even in obvious situations. There was potential for this story, but I felt as if it were rushed through. Even with all of this it was still a decent listen.

A New Twist to Romantic Suspense

If you could sum up Three Seconds to Rush in three words, what would they be?

Who is Piper Anderson? It's funny, but I really do not know why this is in the title. Piper is not a character in this story. Hmmmm...interesting.

What did you like best about this story?

I really liked the storyline and the smooth transition from present to past childhood memories. Not so easily done in audio, but Ms Jennings and Ms. Stewart made it work.

Which character – as performed by Laura Jennings – was your favorite?

I really enjoy Ms. Jennings storytelling style. Soft, but intriguing. She always knows how to keep my interest.

Any additional comments?

I liked the mix of mystery, suspense and romance Ms. Stewart weaves in this story. I would definitely pick up another book by Ms. Stewart.
