About this listen

Working as an investigator for the supernatural elite means living by three simple rules: don’t ruffle feathers, keep the clients (vampires, shifters, witches, etc.) happy, and never give them a reason to want you dead. Simple. Unfortunately, Tessa Graves just can’t seem to follow the rules. And that’s why 300 bloodthirsty wolf shifters are hot on her trail.

Adding insult to injury, her newly-retired aunt and feisty grandmother have decided to become her new sidekicks... and roommates... and life coaches, whether Tessa likes it or not. Can these three strong-willed women survive each other long enough to avoid being torn to shreds? Dive into a hidden world of magic and mayhem to find out now!

Not great Not awful

The series was sold as being for Pratchett fans because of the humor. The humor is a lot broader than Pratchett, and I didn't really enjoy it.

The writing and plotting were done with skill.

The narration was subpar but not bad enough to be really bad.

This is a lesson not to buy the second book in a series before completing the first.

Not a fan of the narrator

I enjoyed the storyline very much. The narrator, however, is a whole other thing. The constant, constant mispronunciations just grated on my nerves (Lady, it’s “arGue” not “arYue”), and her performance was quite stilted with little to recommend it. I guess I’ll probably listen to the rest of the series but perhaps I’ll just read them so the mispronunciations don’t frustrate me. PLEASE hire someone else!

Love the new series!

My wife and I are big fans of MM Crumley's books! This is especially true for this new series. We both enjoyed how the narrator was able to portray three generations of Graves' women. Very well written! Loved Doc's appearance. Very well narrated! Definitely recommend and can't wait to get started on book 2.

Doc better be careful with these Graves(es!)

Loved it! Get ready for a ride. Its got everything, Battles, intrigue, love, monsters (good and bad) and a little Doc and Jervis thrown in for good measure. CAN'T WAIT TILL BOOK 2 COMES OUT!

Not a fan of this narrator.....

I have loved all of MM Crumley's books and this story line is great. I love strong women kicking butt! However, I find that most of the female narrators leave a lot to be desired when portraying these characters and this one is no different. She makes Tessa sound like a whiney little snot. I mean to some extent she is a bit angsty but this reader makes her sound like a 12 year old throwing a temper tantrum. Also, does Ms. Adair have an editor?? So many mispronounced words, over and over.... Who doesn't know how to pronounce the word arGue? The G is not silent!! I will listen to the next book to see if there is any improvement at all but may have to skip the rest of the series if that one is as bad as this one.

The graves Ladies

I love all of M.MCrumley’s books. Amy Adair is a good narrator she brings the characters to life as well as the story. The story line is great. The story is interesting, has humor, and keeps you guessing. Doc is only in it for a little while.

I’m a bit confused

It’s not narrated very well and it’s just so boring. How on earth did it get rated so high. Also, how is this paranormal? It’s mainly investigating I think magic was mentioned once.
