Publisher's summary

This is the first book in this completed duet—the story of Tatiana Nikolaev!

My husband.
His secrets.
Our tragedy.

I thought I knew him. I didn’t. I thought he was trustworthy. He wasn’t.

But nothing in this world is as it seems.

I caught the attention of the most notorious man in the underworld.

Konstantin wasn’t the type to be ignored. He commanded his criminal empire with an iron fist but he had secrets of his own.

But I was Tatiana Nikolaev. I’d never bend to a man’s will or be used as a pawn. Not again.

The moment I tempted the fates and played with fire, life spiraled out of control.

My only way of survival was to trust again.

But could I?

*This book is part of a complete duet.*

W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L!!!!

Oh gosh. I'm so happy I've discovered another author that I absolutely love. The story was absolutely one of my favorites. This is a duet though. So there is another one to read. The narrators were great and they made you feel every word.

Thorns of Lust

Eva Winners does it again. Girl this book is so good, and all the secrets. what the heck was her husband into. I do hope Tatiana comes to her senses and stop hiding her feelings for Konstantin. man I'm hella curious about her husband.

LOVE this storyline

I have always wondered about Tatina and the obsession that Konstantin had on her. I knew there was something more while listening to Sasha's story.

I cannot wait for the second book.

Truly ... lusty. :)

This starts off with a bang, quite literally, and that pretty much sets the tone—this book is exciting, packing all sorts of drama, angst, some stalker vibes, manipulation, so much corruption, business dealings and lots of steamy scenes.

Some tropes /qualities you may enjoy:

Violence.
Crime families.
Scandal.
Unexpected Pregnancy.
Enemies-to-lovers vibes.
Tragedy.

Audio:
I was surprised when I started this book and there was less-than-perfect sound quality, as this production company’s books are usually flawless. That said, Erin sounded like she was under water for this one—it was unpleasant. She also sounded winded throughout the entire book, absolutely panting, which could be a bit distracting.

The male was … okay other times and sometimes sounded robotic, just dictating the words, completely void of any emotion. Overall he did a decent job.

The overall production was still higher quality than a lot of audio productions I’ve heard—3.5 stars on this front.

Great story and narration

This is Thorns of Omertà #1 and I thoroughly enjoyed reading Illias & Tatiana's story. An arranged marriage, age gap, mafia story that was really good.#TheFlockonTour

Male narrator lacking

Why would a producer allow a narrator to not vocalize ending consonants? The male narrator ruined the audible for me. Dropping the s on almost every word made me feel like I was losing my hearing!

It’s good

I’ve listened to two of EW’s series and I’m really enjoying them although as each series progresses the women in each book become “bolder” but it doesn’t read that way. It comes across as spoiled and stubborn and almost too dumb for their own good. I know it wasn’t written that way but it reads and listens that way.
Overall, if you can get past this the story line is good and the performance is good.

Completely invested!

I have quickly become a fan of Eva Winners. I love the audiobooks of hers that I've listened to so far! This had characters from the Belles and Mobsters series which added to my investment of these newer/new characters. I sat, glued to the book. I am so glad to have been listening while on the road so that can start the next book right away! The cliffhanger...... Ugh!

Tor Thom and Erin Mallon are EXCELLENT narrators. They brought this audiobook to life. Their voices are so easy to listen to for long periods of time.

Good but…

The only complaint I have is that there is no apparent resolution to the big mysteries in sight. What were once the burning questions that keep one engrossed in a story are fast becoming fizzled curiosities. I hope book two throws us a bone in the first few chapters or I’m thinking I might have to change things up.
