Doug spares no legally permissible detail, and his stories couldn't be told any other way. They're weird, uncomfortable, gross, disturbing, and fucking funny.

This Is Not Fame is by no means a story of overcoming a life of excess, immorality, and reckless buffoonery. It's an outright celebration of it. For Stanhope, the party goes on.

the commentary between chapters makes it worth it on its own. So good so good

Was worried and then...

The beginning of this ticked me in the wrong way. But I stuck with it and then it turned out highly enjoyable. Enjoyed Stanhope's stories.

I want some more!

Loved it! Totally resonated with me. I truly enjoyed the sharing of the reading with his friends and the "extra stuff" one would not get from reading the actual book. As far as 'Indexes' go...I never realized how funny (wrong - but the good kind of wrong!) they could be.

Doug's a nut

this book was hilarious. it was like a 12 hour podcast. highly recommended for fans of stanhope or fans of comedy in general.

Memoirable!

I love the absolute honesty of Doug Stanhope. He’s a great story teller and keeps you on your toes. I am stuck at the end of my day job with a stupid lingering grin on my face.

Better than the book!

It's fair to say that both of Stanhope's books thus far, are greatly improved in the telling. Each chapter of this audiobook far exceeds its written counterpart, with the inclusion of extra color-commentary, additions, and corrections by many of the people involved in the actual events.
If, however, you're not familiar with his particular brand of stand-up, do yourself a favor and check out some of his stuff on YouTube before beginning this book. It's definitely not for everyone.

Why are you reading this, DL the book already

Great Audible, if you enjoyed digging up mother you will enjoy this one as well. This audible is worth the money and lots of gems throughout that you will not get with the paperback version. I think more people will copy this style of recording an audible in the comedy section. They will rip Stanhope off in the near future with no credit to the man who did it first. Buy this Audible! Chad Shank golden pipes also make it a great listen.

If you love his act, you'll love this book.

A book full of gems from a legendary comedian

Doug Stanhope is a hidden treasure, within the comedy world. This book is just icing on the cake for my enjoyment of his material, and any true comedy fan will appreciate this book. He looks back on a ton of outrageous moments that he has experienced over the years, and it leaves you seeing the softer side of his raunchy comedy bits and road stories.
