Scientifically-- Doesn't Hold Water
Would you try another book from Robert O. Young and Shelley Redford Young and/or Scott Brick and Tess Masters ?
Robert O Young offers explanations which are just not based in the way the body works. Because of his explanations, it is hard for me, with a BS and MA of Education to give credence to this book. I was so disappointed in this book, and found myself wondering about the institution where Mr. Young was educated.
What could Robert O. Young and Shelley Redford Young have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The voices are great, always important for me personally.

Step outside the box !
Not only do I recommend the audiobook I also purchased the book and would almost buy dido copies for my friends if I had the money! not only can I sit back and listen over and over I can use the book as a quick reference for the great food combinations. The informational content and easy listening voices kept me wanting to know more. I can only lift a few lbs. which made the audiobook a Godsend. When I read books I seem to fall asleep and lose interest and that is why the audiobook is so helpful. Either way it was money well spent.

The True Biology that h3lped mr Save my life in 3
"The pH Miracle" by PHd Microbiologist Dr Robert Young that helped me reverse Chronic Fatigue, OBS, Immune Deficiency and Colon Cancer in 1996 and my father and I helped him translate French Microbiologist Antoine Beauchamp research on Pleomorphism and taking care of our inner environment now called the Microbiome, vs his rival Louie Pasteur who's Germ theory concerned more with outside pathogens like viruses that he himself admitted on his deathbed was a false theory. But the AMA medical education followed Pasteur's Germ theory and never studied the True Biology. This is amazing and has helped 10s of 1000s of us stay healthy.

This is not for everyone. If you read other authors (Dr. Fuhrman, for example) mushrooms are one of the best foods you can add to your diet. The Youngs advocate removing them from your diet. When you have experts disagreeing, where do you turn for more information?

If you really want to be healthy, do this
I found this book when looking for a cure for my cancer-suffering sister about 15 years ago. I knew then that these principles were true and decided that if I were ever to have a life threatening disease, this would be the way to cure it. Recently I have discovered that I may indeed have a life-threatening disease and so revisited this book, this time in audio form. Although I totally believe in the premise, I got so lost in the details that I finally had to give up. Thus, the four-star rating. Who could possibly keep track of all those details, foods and SUPPLEMENTS? However, the takeaway for me is to eat waaaaaay more alkalizing foods and cut the acid down as much as possible. That I can do.
I do believe we can heal ourselves by what we eat and by adopting a healthier overall lifestyle. I know I must. I have lead a very healthy life in large part by following the basic advice from this book until recently when I started eating, for some unexplained reason, a more traditional SAD diet (Standard American Diet). I gained 40 pounds and have had a number of miserable illnesses in that short year. I hope to live at least another 20 years, but I don't want to be sick for one more day. That will have to include healing myself of this current malady, which I fully intend to do, and I know this is the best way to do just that.
When I bought this audio version, I wondered how Robert Young was able to score a master narrator such as Scott Brick to read it. The forward explained it all. The Youngs have helped Mr. Brick cure himself of cancer. Makes sense. We don't want to lose him or anyone like him. Or anyone, not to that miserable disease. I do believe we could eliminate cancer and other horrific diseases from this planet if everyone would follow these guidelines. Sadly, that will never happen.
