About this listen

Interstellar con man Rex Nihilo and his long-suffering robot sidekick Sasha are back, and they're neck-deep in their most outrageous scam yet: selling black market planets!

Terraforming uninhabitable planets and selling them to criminals right under the nose of the repressive interstellar Malarchy is good work if you can get it, but there's a price: as the pair's profits soar, they find themselves on the run from...well, pretty much everybody. With the Malarchy breathing down their necks, the malevolent cult known as the Sp'ossels hot on their heels, and the Ursa Minor Mafia out for their cut, Rex and Sasha hop from planet to planet, with nothing but their wits and a motley crew of loyal friends to keep them alive.

But when their antics draw the attention of an ancient intelligence determined to wipe humanity from the galaxy, they put their moneymaking plans on hold - and team up with their biggest rival - to save the galaxy once again.

Far fetched hilarious -> narrator WINS!

This is one of those books where the narrator brings it to life in such a ways that is a shining star in the audible catalog.

The idea of Rex and SASHA is a little far-fetched that’s true. Once you get past that though, which takes about five minutes and you engage in the fact of this book is written to be halfway decent science fiction but twice as decent humor you get an absolutely amazing performance by JD Ledford. JDs performance is on par with Jennifer van Dyk In Seeker for Chase Colepath, Ray Porter in Bobiverse for the Bob’s, and RC Bray in Expeditionary Force for Skippy.

There’s nothing funnier than to hit her bring my lease liked character to life – and that’s Boggs. Bogs plays A bigger role in this book that book two.

From a shenanigans and antics perspective, both are well satisfied by a funny semi believable plot, very good action pacing, and all the other characters in the first two books that you grown to love.

If you like the other Books then you’ll like this one just the same.

Sasha, this is all your fault

If you like the other Rex books, you'll like this one too! I know its a hard sell using a credit on a 6 hr book, but look at it like this, why should you trudge thru, be annoyed by, and maybe even give up on an 11 hr book just because we think recorded length means value, when you can be throughly entertained by and laugh out loud at Rex for 6 full hours? That's value!

Best book of the series yet!

Robert Kroese’s previous works of satire in this series have been a constant quotable series of laughs for my family for years, but this book blew us away. Right from chapter one, the jokes and wit were hilarious. By chapter three the mix of clever literary humor and slapstick con man antics were woven together with brilliance. No spoilers, the book keeps going and finishes strong. We loved every minute of it.

Ledford’s reading was pixel perfect. Her range for ridiculous characters like Boggs and Donnie as well as Sasha, Pepper and Rex is vast - she nailed it.

Highly recommended!

Terrific comic sci-fi grifting adventure

I'm a big fan of the comic sci-fi adventures of intergalactic conman Rex Nihilo and his robotic sidekick Sasha, and this one is excellent as well, where Rex and Sasha discover a threat to the galaxy. J D Ledford does her usual stellar job voicing all the crazy characters. Looking forward to more.

Best Entry Since the First One

I often listen to audiobooks when driving. It turns out that it's hard to see the road when you're laughing that hard.

Good book. Entertaining plot, great jokes, and the best performance I've heard from J. D. Ledford yet.

Witty, full of parodies!

The Wrath of Cons: A Rex Nihilo Adventure
Starship Grifters, Book 3
By: Robert Kroese
Narrated by: J. D. Ledford

Boy, this book has a boat load of parodies! But once past that more normal Rex and Sasha action happens! This adventure has the gang dealing with planet terraforming bombs. This was great until an enemy wants to use the same bombs on already terraformed and civilized planets to kill off all life!
This has new characters and old favorites! Still hilarious and witty! The narration is excellent! I hope there is plenty more Rex and Sasha books to come!

Funny, self effacing

If you like a good yarn, ridiculous tall tales, deep metaphysical introspection on the meaning of life or just want to see who Malconvich Reynolds would be if his conscious was a literal external force which did not have the power to control his actions, this story is for you.

Funny, Clever and Random

The story is fantastic and gut-funny throughout. The narration is superb, especially in how J.D. voices Donny.

Donny is the best. The world needs more Donnys!

Funnier Than the First Two Combined

Everything that is so good in the first two volumes is doubled in this one. Funny, funny, funny, and an excellent conclusion to the series. Or is it the end?
