About this listen

A Warhammer Horror portmanteau.

Drawn together by mysterious circumstances, three strangers meet in the mists of a desolate cemetery world. As they relate their stories, the threads of fate are drawn around them, and destiny awaits....

Read it because: It's a classic horror portmanteau comprising three Warhammer 40,000 novellas, each with its own distinct feel - a ghost story, a monster saga and a psychological horror tale - that all draw together through the terrifying linking story.

The story: On a misty cemetery world, three strangers are drawn together through mysterious circumstances. Each of them has a tale to tell of a narrow escape from death. Amid the toll of funerary bells and the creep and click of mortuary-servitors, the truth is confessed. But whose story can be trusted? Whose recollection is warped, even unto themselves?

For these are strange stories of the uncanny, the irrational and the spine-chillingly frightening, where horrors abound and the dark depths of the human psyche is unearthed.

Good Story, Obvious Twist

Good horror tale with an old school twist ending. Especially enjoyed the third story in the set.

Very entertaining

Great twists, and loved do love a good 40k horror. The best part is. It’s three for one.

Worth a read

It's was okay, it's split up with 3 different stories but I personally think that the last one was best overall. The reader did a great job!

Voice acting, good ending

Nice story but doesn’t really give me horror vibes. Never on edge or suspense. Especially the first 3rd of the book.

Great voice acting

Great

Great stories, great performance.
Could imagine it would be hard writing a horror story in a universe that is already so horrible, but they managed it well.
Especially the last story!

Good Horror, but a little bit predictable.

Found this to be a passable horror story. it had a tough task, as trying to bring horror to a long time 40k fan in the 40kverse is not easy, considering how jaded we all are. Of the three stories, I felt that each had at least one genuinely unsettling moment, with the third doing the best, and the second falling short most. Still, solid stories, lore compliant, and for the most part very clever.

Really, the only gripe I have is that the "twist" at the very end is visible from the end of the very first short story. Made it kind of an anticlimax, especially as the third story had an ending that was genuinely creepy. Then again, if you don't see it coming, would probably be pretty good.

Overall, a fun enough listen, but I have to hope other entries will do better.

first two stories are wonderful

I like a little dark in my #grimdark. this is a great start to the warhammer horror. it often felt a bit theater of the absurd, in a great Camus inspired way. strongly recommend.
