Harris, Fiona, and Lucas

Story: Harris (H36) is a veteran hockey player struggling with his career's decline and considering retirement. Five years ago, Harris had a one-night stand with Fiona (h), a night that changed both their lives. Harris never found Fiona again and never forgot about their intense night, and she likewise never forgot him, especially since she was left with a little reminder of that night—their son, Lucas. Fiona has raised Lucas as a single mother, never telling Harris about his existence. But when Lucas, now five years old, overhears that his father is a famous hockey player, he becomes determined to meet him, and when they do meet, Harris quickly realizes that Lucas is indeed his child and immediately embraces his role as a dad. Their family night at the hotel is so sweet and Harris just seems like he's so natural for being a parent. Love how Harris has found a new purpose in his life - the joy of family, inspiring him even on the ice. Harris and Fiona reconnect, and things quickly heat up between them. Sweet and spicy second chance, hockey romance with plenty of love and family.

Audio: The narrators did a really great job with this story and made for an entertaining audio version of a story I've previously read. The audiobook uses a male narrator and a female narrator – I always appreciate when an author goes for the additional costs of having two narrators in a duet style. Narrators Oliver Clarke and Brooklyn Young both do a great job with the tone and voice that they bring to Harris, Fiona, and other characters. I've enjoyed the variety of authors being used throughout the series with different narrators used for each book. The audio quality is good and there were no issues.

The veteran

Audiobook review.

Harris Sutton is experiencing 4 loses in the game year and the sport critics are not holding back their thoughts. The following day after practice he meets a young fan who was standing in the rain waiting for him. He explained his father is a huge fan and would he mind coming which then gives him the mindset to do better in the up coming game. Oh no it doesn’t. He thinks of that one night 5 years ago he met his dream girl in Kansas City. Fiona has a young son named Lucas. He overhears that Harris is his Dad and wants to know more about him. After he is asleep she wants to get clarity and drinks her wine. She reflects on her past thoughts and regrets not telling him now. Because her son wants to know Lucas. So she sees an oppprtunity to see him and tell the truth at a charity event. There the truth spills out and old feeling re-emerge. Harris doesn’t want to loose her again. But he has to go back to San Antonio for a game. But they make arrangements to see each other again. Not wanting her son to get his hope to up. But this seasoned player knows what he wants and will do anything to get it. Loved the 2nd chance to short of a book..

Meeting up with my one night stand

I liked this short novella of Harris and Fiona. They slept together one night and five years later he finds out he has a son. It was a fun read with a happy ending for all.

amazing audiobook, gives the story even more chara

I already reviewed the story, that of course remains the same. I am always looking forward fot the audiobooks though. The amazing voices breath even more personality and life into the characters, most of all Harris and Fiona of course.
*spoilers* This is the third book in the San Antonio Hyenas series and the team has lost a couple of games. Harris feels his age and gets pestered by the press. He is missing his pupose in life. Five years ago he met the girl of his dreams and they spend one unforgettable night, but then she was gone. Fiona is a very caring and loving mother to her son Lucas, but never told his father about him. When Lucas learns who his father is he is determined to meet him...
Despite the rather rough game of hockey, this story is sugary sweet. Harris does not put out alligations towards Fiona, but is so understanding and just bursting with love for his family, datermined to keep them and just make it bigger.

Loved the tale in audio, too

I liked the FM narrator compared to the previous books. She is a much better fit for romance than previous narrators for OT. There is so much about the story that just makes you love both MCs. He wraps her up and loves her like no time has passed and their easy forgiveness of each other is so sweet. I especially loved the ending. The whole tale just gives you the warm fuzzies. It's a beautiful love, and a fantastic way to spend a couple of hours.

Sweet and Passionate Romance

This is the third novella in The San Antonio Hyenas series. Harris and Fiona's second chance romance is beautifully written, fast-paced, sweet, heartwarming, and engaging. Lucas is adorable. Oliver Clarke and Brooklyn Young did a great job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Second Chance

Harris Sutton aka Flamethrower has not been living up to his name, something is missing from his life. Hockey used to be everything for him, until he met Fiona, he has not been able to forget her in the last five years. All he has means nothing when there is no one to share it with.

Fiona was scared when she found out she was pregnant, she never told Harris about the lovable little boy, Lucas. Unfortunately, Lucas inadvertently over hears a conversation about who is father is and wants to meet him.

This is a high heat story about a second chance, with an adorable little angel thrown in the mix. The narrators really bring the story to life.

Loved It

I remember really loving this book when I read it back in April and was excited now to listen to it in audio. (Original book review below) I loved Oliver Clarke for Harris. He had that nice deep commanding voice- perfect for an alpha character. But not so deep that he couldn't do good voices for Lucas and Fiona as well.

Brooklyn Young did a good job for Fiona and Lucas, and not bad for Harris. Though there was a chapter when Lucas gets a cut on his hand and she had Fiona talking to him in one of those syrupy sweet, "Oh no my poor baby!" voices that was a big turn-off for me. I understand some moms out there do talk to their kids in that dramatic tone of voice like the sun shines out of their eyes and it always makes me roll my eyes and go ugh! Although at other times she did it a little bit when talking to Lucas, but nothing as bad as that, so it was fine after that initial scene.

Original Ebook Review 4/29/24:

'It’s always when I’m at my loneliest that she comes. She’s like a ghost from my past coming to haunt me.'

I absolutely loved this book. Out of a dozen and a half of Olivia's book that I've read, this one is my favorite. No drama or angst. Just beautiful characters and a sweet romance. Harris Sutton completely won my heart when he spotted Arthur, a teenage fan who'd waited six hours standing in the rain to ask him to see his badly injured father, Chris, in the hospital, who is a huge fan. Despite being tired, brought down by the press, and having a game that night, he was still willing to not only go, but spent two hours with them. It was just such a selfless and beautiful thing. I knew then how special he was. I liked Fiona and her son Lucas. She felt very relatable and realistic, and Lucas was so cheerful and innocent. I loved seeing Lucas and Harris together. And of course instalove for our couple who never forgot the other.

Good story - Fiona and Harris

I really enjoy Ms. Turner's writing. This was a really good book about a 36 year old hockey player and his one-night stand that produced a child. He does not learn about the child until five years later. The reunion with Fiona and his child Lucas was great. I love how he accepted the child and Fiona into his life. I also love how neither of them was with anyone else during their time apart. This book had a really nice HEA.
