On September 19th, 1995, the New York Times printed an essay by a known terrorist in a desperate attempt to stop his string of civilian bombings.

The newspaper’s editors dismissed “The Unabomber” as a lunatic, but his essay soon began to capture the attention of the world’s wisest political minds. As The Atlantic wrote: “[The essay] was greeted...by many thoughtful people as a work of genius.”

Predicting society’s present addiction to technology, our challenges with data privacy, and the dramatic increase in drug overdoses and depression that have accompanied a technology-induced lack of purpose, The Unabomber’s vision of the future has become our reality.

Of course, his means were disgusting and condemnable. But his message is more important than ever.

If we want to thrive in an age where automation and artificial intelligence and rapidly making humans obsolete, it is our responsibility to understand and prepare for the technological machine we are up against.

Pretty interesting

Sad Ted himself couldn’t do the audio recording but a very interesting read nonetheless. 10/10

Interesting

This is an interesting look into the mind of a madman, who happens to be a brilliant former Professor. Thought-provoking to say the least and I have to say it, but I think some of his points are valid, while others are extreme and a little off-the-walls.

All in all, if you’re into true crime, or maybe just something different and thought-provoking, you may enjoy this.

A must read.

Mind blowing. An essential read in the year of our Lord, 2022. More insightful than any oracle. Buying the hard copy as well.

This aged very well

I wholeheartedly agree with his diagnoses, especially with how far the relationship between technology and people has come. Many of his predictions have come true, and it appears more are in the trajectory of happening. A brilliant mind indeed. That said, I do not agree with his bombings. Nevertheless, this is a well written essay.

Accuracy

The accuracy of portraying these systems of society and its consequences is amazing! Rest in peace Ted you will be missed!

An extremely based book, Ted did nothing wrong. He just spoke out against the system

Ted was also hot

Not only was he one of the greatest thinkers of his time, but Ted was also very attractive. Maybe we shouldn’t bomb the nuclear reactors but if he asked me when he was 25 I would consider it.

A Must-read

Ted is a smart dude. I recommend this book to better understand his perspective, but also to build on the one you already have. his arguments are compelling, though not bullet-proof, and the narrator does a good job delivering them. super recommend, 10/10, I will probably listen again. It's also only 3 hours so what do you have to lose?
