Story
Language learning is seen as something incredibly difficult, and most speakers of English are brought up with the idea that we English speakers just aren't good at learning languages. But what if this isn't the true story? What if you could easily learn a new language and have fun doing it? In this book, I pull back the curtain to reveal the mindset and methodology of a polyglot. This book will dispel the myths, lay the foundations of the correct mindset for success, and inspire you to commit to learning that language you've always wanted to master.

The Equations of Life
- How Physics Shapes Evolution
- By: Charles S. Cockell
- Narrated by: Ian Porter
- Length: 11 hrs and 42 mins
- Unabridged
-
Overall

-
Story
In The Equations of Life, biologist Charles S. Cockell makes the forceful argument that the laws of physics narrowly constrain how life can evolve, making evolution's outcomes predictable. If we were to find something very much like a lady bug eating something very much like an aphid on a distant planet, we shouldn't be surprised. The forms of life are guided by a limited set of rules, and, as a result, there is a narrow set of solutions to the challenges of existence.

Story
Regarded as one of the brightest young scientists of his generation, Lewis Dartnell proposes that the key to preserving civilization in an apocalyptic scenario is to provide a quickstart guide, adapted to cataclysmic circumstances. The Knowledge describes many of the modern technologies we employ, but first it explains the fundamentals upon which they are built. The Knowledge is a brilliantly original guide to the fundamentals of science and how it built our modern world as well as a thought experiment about the very idea of scientific knowledge itself.

Story
Since its 2009 launch, the Kepler satellite has discovered more than 2,000 exoplanets, or planets outside our solar system. More exoplanets are being discovered all the time, remarkable in their variety. Astronomer Michael Summers and physicist James Trefil explore these remarkable recent discoveries: planets revolving around pulsars, planets made of diamond, planets that are mostly water, and numerous rogue planets wandering through the emptiness of space.

We do not know why complex life is the way it is, or, for that matter, how life first began. In The Vital Question, award-winning author and biochemist Nick Lane radically reframes evolutionary history, putting forward a solution to conundrums that have puzzled generations of scientists.

Earth evolves. From first atom to molecule, mineral to magma, granite crust to single cell to verdant living landscape, ours is a planet constantly in flux. In this radical new approach to Earth’s biography, senior Carnegie Institution researcher and national best-selling author Robert M. Hazen reveals how the co-evolution of the geosphere and biosphere - of rocks and living matter - has shaped our planet into the only one of its kind in the Solar System, if not the entire cosmos.

What is life? Humans have been asking this question for thousands of years. But as technology has advanced and our understanding of biology has deepened, the answer has evolved. For decades, scientists have been exploring the limits of nature by modifying and manipulating DNA, cells, and whole organisms to create new ones that could never have previously existed on their own.

Great Resource
Wow! I feel very knowledgeable learning from this topic and learned quite a lot. It is an excellent go to for those students in high school struggling in this subject but honestly it can be for anyone who wants to find an easier way to understand and retain the information and prepare for the test. I really liked the Q&A format.

Love it
It is definitely a book every parent or legal guardian with a teenager in 10th grade taking chemistry should listen to as well as give to them, because not only does it nicely explain many of the common questions that help with further comprehension but it also explains the reason why the answer corresponds with the question with a full explanation. As soon as my niece started to have a better understanding of chemistry, I knew the audiobook worked for her. My hope is that she will continue to improve.

Functional, easy to memorize
Bought this for my friend's daughter who has been having a hard time with chemistry as a sophomore, and hoped this might help her memorize/cram a little better for her tests. Apparently she used it in conjunction with her own studies, and got a full letter grade better on her next test! Great study guide, would recommend for anyone with kids in chemistry.

Great for anyone in 10th grade chemistry!
The clear narration paired with long enough pauses (to think) makes for a great resource. I was really surprised with how aligned the questions were with grade 10 learning, many similar books just miss the mark and have a lot of useless information. Worth the listen.
