Publisher's summary

Were the majority of Jews in the times of Jesus convinced that there was a second power in heaven? This is the question that must be addressed if we are to understand the New Testament with the same basic revelation of the first disciples. When the Jewish temple was destroyed in 70 A.D., the Jewish sect of the Pharisees continued guiding the spiritual direction for most of the Jewish people scattered in synagogues all over the Roman empire. They decided to abandon the idea of two powers in heaven and to emphasize monotheism, or the belief in only one power in heaven. This shift was a reaction to the success of Christianity in the Roman empire. Non-Messianic Jews began to accuse the followers of Jesus of being polytheists, or believers in multiple gods. Followers of Jesus were said to believe in two gods and be polytheists like the heathens. I believe this accusation caused Christians to react to an accusation instead of responding to the truth. This book is a journey to discover the actual beliefs of the Jewish people in the times of Jesus and is a reformated version of the book "Are There Two Powers in Heaven" with twelve longer chapters instead of the 95 abbreviated chapters.
