Publisher's summary

The fourth installment in the critically acclaimed Cordell Logan series, The Three-Nine Line brings the sardonic pilot all the way to Vietnam

It’s been over forty years since they were released from the “Hanoi Hilton"—a prisoner of war camp in Vietnam—and three American soldiers and ex-prisoners finally return to Vietnam. As part of an effort by the US government to settle a major trade agreement, these three men have agreed to make peace with one of their most brutal former captors—a guard they dubbed “Mr. Wonderful.” But when Mr. Wonderful is murdered, the three former POWs are the primary suspects and the multi-billion dollar deal threatens to unravel.

Enter Cordell Logan: pilot, still-aspiring Buddhist, and former military assassin.

Working with a newly formed covert intelligence unit, Logan arrives in Hanoi to identify the real killer before the trade agreement implodes. But he soon discovers a vexing and increasingly dangerous mystery that will take every ounce of ingenuity and resolve to unlock. Risking his life like never before, Logan must discover who killed the guard and why, and fast.

The Three-Nine Line is a classic, pulse-pounding work and an excellent addition to a thrilling series from award-winning author David Freed.

Loved it

Loved the writing by Freed and performance by porter, as allways. Snappy, ironi and speed in just the right places.

Not his best

I didn’t enjoy this Logan story as much as the others. Maybe it was the setting.

Great book, good performance

What did you love best about The Three-Nine Line?

The description of how Cordelll Logan thinks and what he does. David Freed is a great writer who kept me engaged the whole time

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Three-Nine Line?

When our hero, Logan, faces down the Vietnamese bad guy after he had been kidnapped.

Have you listened to any of Ray Porter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, They are all great.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The descriptions of Hanoi

Any additional comments?

Being a pilot during the Viet Nam war and having flown over the north, then having just visited Viet Nam last year, this brought back a lot of memories. Thanks for writing it David.

Entertaining

What made the experience of listening to The Three-Nine Line the most enjoyable?

Ray Porter

What other book might you compare The Three-Nine Line to and why?

Cordell Logan is sounding more and more like Joe Ledger.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Action, Romance and A Crazy Cat

Any additional comments?

I'm tickled that I'm hearing more and more similar phrases as are in The Joe Ledger series. Maybe it's just Ray Porter, but I don't think so. I do think Mr. Logan thinks too much with his privates, but I guess that's what "most" of these guys do, right?

Decent follow up.

You have to suspend reality a bit to buy into the plot but Cordell Logan is an interesting well-rounded character and worth it.

Old Wars never End

Not much happens and story stalls a few times. Kept expecting something exciting to happen. It did, the end.

so glad i finally listened to this book

first of all, it took me forever to get this book because i was still hurting from the last one. im glad i waited because i was able to move on from her death and how she died. this one takes us to Vietnam and almost makes me want to visit that country. almost. Ray Porter? thank you. you are an amazing narrator. the chuckles that you pull from me are welcoming. but the dire seriousness you make certain situations are also very important. i love it when a narrator can make us feel like we're standing right next to you in any situation. i could almost feel the jet lag with you.
i started listening before this book finished downloading and i couldn't stop until the end. not for anything. truly a great mystery novel. great job!

Not my favorite Freed.

Still enjoyed the book but it wants me favorite in this series. there wasn't a lot of meat to the story but the wiring style and characters were great as usual .
