About this listen

It should have been a case like any other: a missing princess, a king willing to pay in gold for her return. But before he realizes it, private investigator Eddie LaCrosse, a slightly shopworn sword jockey with a talent for discretion and detection, is swept up in a web of mystery and deceit involving a brutally murdered royal heir, a queen accused of an unspeakable crime, and the tragic past he thought he'd left behind.©2007 Alex Bledsoe (P)2009 Blackstone Audio, Inc. It felt like a 1920s noire mystery updated to a fantasy novel. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and finished in one day.

Fun little noire book

Such a well rounded story. Basically from start to finish this story answers all the questions one could ask of life and the universe. Love & loss, victory & defeat, honor & betrayal. Reminiscent of age old fables, if you are wise there are layers of lifes lessons and parables within this wonderful story. Loved it

Masterful

Delightful fantasy mix of crime,, detection , spies, kidnapping, love and hate, all twisted together. Oh,, and don't forget the goddess, and the horses.

Twisted in a good way.

A good fantasy book and written for adults. A nice change as many of these series is particularly language wise very YA. So if you react on "explicit lyrics" this should probably have a sticker on it.. 😂

But a good story, and I like the main person is a middle age "sceptic"!!

The title of this book threw me off. The story turned out to be a surprisingly good mystery adventure of love, guilt, and revenge. The performance by Stefan rednecky was decent. The ending of the book was Nicely satisfying. Recommend.

Surprisingly good read/listen

For those who like a mystery mixed with Fantasy and noir style story telling, this is a great listen. the Fantasy aspects are not overwhelming, there isn't a spell for every occasion, and the people are consistent in their actions and motivation. I enjoyed listening to it, the performance is appropriate for the material and style.
