About this listen

Eve Duncan and Riley Smith must solve their most exciting puzzle since A Face to Die For when asked to uncover the mysterious secret hidden on a remote island.

When archeologist Riley Smith comes to ask Eve Duncan for help, Eve has to say no. Traveling halfway around the world on a dangerous quest is not her expertise as a forensic sculptor. But Eve is intrigued by the prospect of an isolated island that holds a secret locked in time.

Traveling to Southeast Asia, Riley is aware of the threat from treasure hunters who are already searching and have no qualms about killing to get what they want. When she successfully evades them and finds the perfectly preserved body of a female warrior, it is just what she needs to entice Eve to help unlock the mystery.

As these two strong women seek answers about this extraordinary past life, Riley makes a living, breathing discovery that will change history. If she can escape the island and survive long enough to share it with the world.

I think a review of Riley and Eve’s history would have been helpful

I’ve been a fan of iris, Johansen for decades I’ve read all her books and my favorite is the Dunkin’ series. I patiently waited for this book reserved on my Amazon account. I was so excited when they came in the book was downloaded, and I started the book and the first couple of chapters. It was slow, and then Eve was introduced into it. Then the excitement of the lake house, and then Eve exited the book. I am on chapter 10 and I feel like the book is the same as it’s been for the last two the other books The two are much more exciting while looking for a hero of thousands of years ago, but really 2 was enough. I am also reading about characters that I don’t know and they’re not exciting. The characters are trying to copy Jane and Caleb and I’d rather just have Jane and Caleb. This book so far just doesn’t make sense to me and I have no interest in. I don’t know if I’m going to pause it or not go back to it , I just don’t know. Somewhere along the line Bonny was almost deleted from the storyline, but I feel like her relationship in the great beyond with Joe and Eve was awesome. I thought maybe she would play a bigger one with Michael since he can see beyond but she doesn’t The other characters that have become family to Eve & Joe just don’t seem to be around, and when you’re reading a series, those character should always play a role what happened to the reconstructions that if we do because that’s part of her character, and what we would go through as she was completing the final project that’s where the things I miss. As an author, I’m sure you’re always looking for material but if you want to do one of new characters, then just come up with a new book series and don’t include it as an Eve Duncan series. If I’ve gone through 10 chapters and Eve was present for only a few mins please don’t call it an Eve series. Also stop sending Joe to play with Michael abroad he’s a better character than that.

I can’t get past chapter 10!!!

I’ve read many novels by this author, but apparently I missed the previous ones in this series. I was completely lost about the characters and story. Don’t assume this one stands alone. About the only thing I took from this one is that the male protagonist (? Cade) is overbearing and obnoxious.

Not a stand-alone

I’m not sure if it was the writing or the acting, but the constant “indignant” dialogue between characters was too over-the-top for me.

A disappointment

Not my favorite but OK. The concept of the warrior queen and the unicorns was interesting and saved it for me. The bad guys were the same as the last several books just with different names. I like the characters.

Kind of Formulaic

it put me asleep in 20 minutes. started again.. sleep again. it doesn't hold interest. it is not a normal eve Duncan's book

this is not a normal eve Duncan's book

I find the reader more "breathless" in her reading which I found annoying. The story line took longer to develop then was necessary. The "impossible mission" characters brought interest to the end...

disappointed...
