About this listen

From the #1 Kickstarter campaign of all time—#1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson adds to his Cosmere universe shared by Mistborn and The Stormlight Archive with a new standalone novel that combines fantasy and science fiction. Narrated by William DeMeritt.

Running. Putting distance between himself and the relentless Night Brigade has been Nomad’s strategy for years. Staying one or two steps ahead of his pursuers by skipping through the Cosmere from one world to the next.

But now, his powers too depleted to escape, Nomad finds himself trapped on Canticle, a planet that will kill anyone who doesn’t keep moving. Fleeing the fires of a sunrise that melts the very stones, he is instantly caught up in the struggle between a heartless tyrant and the brave rebels who defy him.

Failure means a quick death, incinerated by the sun…or a lifetime as a mindless slave. Tormented by the consequences of his past, Nomad must fight not only for his survival—but also for his very soul.

Note from Brandon:

I sincerely believe that stories don’t live until they’re heard. While I would write even if no one were listening—it’s who I am—I thrive because I know the stories are being brought to life by all of you. In this, stories are a special kind of art. Each of you will visualize this book, and its characters, a little differently—you will each put your own stamp on it, making it yours. I don’t believe a story is quite finished until that has happened—until the dream in my head has become a reality (even if briefly) in yours.

And so this book is yours, as they all are once you listen to them. Thank you so much for bringing life to my work, and to the Cosmere.

Story line set in the cosmere with references to Roshar, the Alethi and Bridge Four.

A great story. I’m a big fan of the Stormlight Archive. I understood the references in this book, for once.

Top 5 Sanderson Book

You need to be patient with the first 5 chapters as they are super confusing but that’s what’s so great about Sanderson. No need for exposition dumps! He just throws you in and gives you the information you need as the story progresses in a natural way

Crazy worldbuilding

An amazing story full of desperate gambits and heartwarming connections amongst a desperate group of nomads.
The story truly connected me to several worlds of the cosmere in a way that no other Sanderson work ever has before. 10/10.
Looking forward to the fifth book of the storm light archive to learn more about how the main character got to this point.

Praise The Sun..lit Man.

I hope some can appreciate the headline. Anyways, "The Sunlit Man" caught me off guard because Michael nor Kate were the narrators. I was happily Surprised with William DeMerrit's performance of the characters. I think Brandon should use him again if he hasn't already.

The book was a fun and exciting side detour of a side character in the main Stormlight Books. I was happy to learn more about this character and see him develop throughout the book.

I do think "The Sunlit Man" is a one time read. Meaning the re-readability is low.

Brandon does mention the character will return in another part of the series or anther book, so I do think this is a must read for the Stormlight fan's.

Fun Listen

I love the main character, not trying to give anything away but was pretty clear to me in the beginning who it was. The world build as always is interesting, not my favorite but still interesting. Out of the 4 secrets project books this was my third favorite, Tress being the first and Yumi the second. The magic was a little confusing to me during the book since it’s not the main characters magic that needed explaining but the others. By the end I had a grasp on it a bit but still felt a little unsatisfied by the end.

Good Cosmere Book

The setting was hard to grasp as it had flying vehicles and laser guns. I was expecting magic wizards and holy paladins. But the story was good.
