About this listen

From New York Times bestselling author Carolyn Brown comes a sweet romance about finding a place to truly call home.

Being broke, unemployed, and stranded back in the tiny town of Pick, Texas, was not part of Jancy Wilson’s plan. Yet here she is, watching her car literally go up in smoke - along with her last-ditch hope of staying with her cousin in Louisiana. When Jancy spies a Help Wanted sign hanging in the window of the quaint Strawberry Hearts Diner, the memories of the two years she spent there as a teenager - and the lure of the diner’s beloved strawberry tarts - are enough to draw her in and plant her feet...but only temporarily.

Raised by parents who refused to settle anywhere for long, Jancy has never known what it is to have roots. Now that Jancy’s swept up by the warmth and character of this quirky little community - and by the pull of an old crush - it’s beginning to feel like home. She’s making friends and even discovering the sweetness of falling in love. But when the town is threatened, Jancy knows it will take more than its legendary tarts to save it. Can she fight for this little Texas town - knowing she might not stay forever?

I’m wishing Carolyn Brown would write a trilogy or series! Her characters are always so lovely and I want to hear more!

This is a sweet romance that revolves around three different couples. It’s about finding yourself and your place in the world and about learning to love and trust. It may have been a little too sweet for me at times and I considered giving it 3 stars, but the audio production was so good that I still very much enjoyed listening to it so I decided to keep it at 4.

Brittany Pressley does a great job narrating. I’m not from Texas but her accents sounded good to me. She really brought all of the characters to life. For me, the audio production definitely added to my enjoyment of the book.

Sweet romance

Y'all, after finishing this lovely audio book I want to live in Pick Texas and hang out at the diner have burger basket and a strawberry tart. This is a sweet story that carries you away from the ugliness that the world can bring.

I thought the narrator did a fine job.

I'm hungry and want to eat at the diner.

I’m from Texas so I could relate. I like the storyline but I thought it would be a little more meat to the developer that came to town

Cute Story

Good story, but the Texas accent was way overdone and distracted from the storyline. Not everyone from Texas talks like a hick!

Good story, but...

The story is excellent, however if you are from the south the accent will bother you. Southerners, of which I am one, do not talk that fast or with that much twang. A southern accent is very soft and slow. The story is well written.

Very fake southern accent

it's a good story, but toward the end it got a little annoyingly perfect and I set it aside several times.
