After apparently befriending the mysterious and ill-tempered Edward Hyde, Dr. Jekyll's behavior becomes erratic and after a local murder is attributed to Hyde, the lawyer is forced to conclude that his friend has been caught up in a sinister extortion scheme.
This thrilling story has become so intertwined with our cultural narrative that "Jekyll and Hyde" has become shorthand for those people with seemingly split personalities.
It is presented here in its original form and features a biography of the author, Scottish storyteller Robert Louis Stevenson, also known for his adventure novels Kidnapped and Treasure Island.
