About this listen
"A fantastic high-stakes adventure on a ghost ship sailing forever into eternity, where every soul is (literally) worth fighting for—what's not to love?" —Rin Chupeco, author of The Bone Witch and The Girl from the Well
This thrilling audiobook is full of danger, stormy otherworld seas, ghost ships, and terrifying monsters.
Death is just the beginning.
After dying in a terrible car accident, Rhett awakens in the afterlife and is recruited to join the crew of the Harbinger, a colossal seafaring vessel tasked with ferrying the souls of the dead. To where exactly, no one knows. But the crew must get the souls there, and along the way protect them from vicious soul-eating monsters that will stop at nothing to take the ship and all of its occupants.
Rhett and his new friends have a hard enough time fighting back the monsters that grow bolder and more ferocious every day. But then a new threat emerges, a demon who wants something that Rhett has. And if she gets it, it could mean the end of everything... for both the living and the dead.
The Soul Keepers is a pulse-pounding, cinematic adventure by debut author Devon Taylor.

Story
It's been twelve years since the undead hordes swept over the earth forcing mankind to the brink of extinction. We now live like rats, scavenging in the ruins of our fallen civilization as the dead hunt us night and day. There is little left to scavenge, however. Grocery stores were emptied ages ago, gas tanks have long been dry and bullets are so precious that a man is lucky to have two to his name. Still, we survive. But for how much longer? Instinct and love have combined to turn Darwin's theory on its head. The strongest didn't survive in this world. They were the first to die, leaving behind a generation of orphans. It's a generation that's never had a full belly. It's a generation that has no idea what an Xbox did, or what algebra is for. It's a generation of children who never laugh out loud, and who have learned to cry softly because the dead are always near and the dead are always so very, very hungry.

Story
Summer 1977. The Blyton Summer Detective Club (of Blyton Hills, a small mining town in Oregon's Zoinx River Valley) solved their final mystery and unmasked the elusive Sleepy Lake monster - another low-life fortune hunter trying to get his dirty hands on the legendary riches hidden in Deboën Mansion. And he would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for those meddling kids.

Original story, disappointing ending
If you hold onto logic or any particular beliefs about what you think you know about the after life then this book will not work for you. Have an open mind and go along for the ride. The reader and main character are thoroughly confused together. Which really adds connecting in the book. It starts out questionable, but it really gets solid in the middle with the charter development, story, and narration. Unfortunately the ending is disappointing. I can not figure out if the author was specifically trying to make the reader follow to the next "upcoming" book in the series OR if the author had an " oh Bleep" moment when they realized they had made everything way to complex and could not "close" on the book. If you are in an open and adventurous mood give it a try. I am hopeful that this author will grow as he writes more books.
