About this listen

It’s not easy being the youngest of seven sons in a family of notorious sorcerers, especially for Ayden Dracre. In a world where sorcerers practice only dark magic and wizards practice only light magic, Ayden has a problem: He is very bad at being bad. Try as he might, all of his spells to cause mayhem go awry. When he finds out that his family has had enough of his mistakes, he decides to take destiny into his own hands.

He has one chance to prove to his family that he is worthy of the sorcerer name or he will find himself on the unfortunate end of his mother’s wrath; he must defeat the greatest wizard of all the lands. There are only two problems: He doesn’t know how to fight with magic, and he doesn’t want to hurt anyone. If he’s going to survive this quest, he will have to rely on the most unlikely allies.

Follow Ayden and his friends on three exciting, magic-filled adventures. If you love dragons, magic, adventure, and humor, check out this three-book bundle! Great for the whole family!

Great Kid Friendly Fantasy!

This story revolves around Ayden who is caught between two types of magic- light and dark. His family is dark magic users but Ayden being the 7th son of th 7th son has both types of magic and his world quickly learns he can't trust his family, has to learn how to use his magic and help Merlin.... This series is kid and family friendly, and is perfect for those Harry Potter and fantasy readers looking for another great magical fantasy read! It was fun to hear my son (14yr) laughing as he listened to the book. The narrator does a great job and was a lot of fun to listen.

This is a wonderful series!I love the fresh take on the Quest. We have Aiden, who is the seventh son of a seventh son.He is supposed to be a powerful sorcerer, except he doesn't want to hurt anyone. His mother wants to find and take his power.Hence the quest. J Scott Bennett is the perfect narrator.I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.

A great series. Narration was excellent

We have listened to books by this author and narrator in the past. This book exceeded our expectations. The story is well written. From the title and authors description you get the main idea of the book. Ayden, Merlin and other characters both good and evil, take you on an adventure. Good for any age. The narration was excellent making easy listening.

The seventh son...

Life is not easy for this seventh son of a sorcerer's family especially if your own mother wishes to kill you and take your powers for herself. Ayden Dracre was this son and top it all off his brothers were cruel to him too--as their mother wishes them to be. Ayden soon leaves his home for his own safety and to prove to his family that is worthy of being a sorcerer. Yet, this is not to happen when he releases a wolf who happens to be Merlin. He learns that he can still be a sorcerer with both black and white magic and his adventure with this trusted friend he learns this. This saga is full of adventure and certainly to give you a laugh here and there. The author weaved a saga that can be enjoyed by the entire family and the narrator did a fabulous job in the telling.

Not much beyond the interesting premise

I'll admit the, very brief, Sarah Palin cameo made me laugh. The Donald Trump one just ruined the humor.

Having gotten that little bit out of the way, what can I say about this book? It's an interesting premise. Sadly the execution just doesn't deliver. I could like Ayden, except that through the first book he whines constantly. He also falls, sometimes literally, into the solutions for ever obstacle he faces.

The entire concept is that Ayden comes form an evil family and he needs to prove that he can be as evil as they are. The problem is, the author is unwilling to even let Ayden try... at all. Ayden's motivation for wanting to be evil is so that his mother wouldn't kill him. It's never really explained why Ayden just doesn't become a wizard. He's clearly suited for the role. He's even told that he has both "good" and "bad" magic.

I gave up after the first book. I might come back to read the next two but I'll have to be really bored to do so.

Horrible

I made myself listen to the first book, but by a quarter way through the second, I couldn't go on. Deleted it without remorse. Horrible narrator and a story that a four year old might enjoy only if all other forms of entertainment were out.

You’d think

The basis of the story and characters leads one to believe it will be a good book. I am in disbelief how unsatisfying this book is written. 95% of it is painful to get through. Narration was phenomenal but the dialog and interactions are simply stupid, frustratingly so. Anyone could have written this story better.
