About this listen

When a local fisherman hires Weston Wolf to find out what happened to his talented daughter, the savvy detective and his partner Angie Stallone discover a series of clues that lead to salacious crimes and celebrity scandal. Along the way, Wolf meets Freyja Beck, a unique and beautiful woman who was once an aspiring singer and actress. Her connection to the movie industry could be the key to unraveling the mystery of the missing girl and acquiring the evidence to nail one of Hollywood’s most celebrated producers.

In the spirit of Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler, Joe C. Ellis has weaved together a fast-paced noir detective novel set on the Outer Banks with a menagerie of unusual characters.

This second book in the Weston Wolf Outer Banks Detective Series is the follow-up to the extremely popular Roanoke Island Murders: A Modern Retelling of the Maltese Falcon.

Fine Detective Story

Talk about a captivating detective story. And it only leaves you wanting more. Joe C. Ellis has you at the edge of your seat and never lets go of your anxiety. The narrating by Robert Ferraro was very well done. If you like a good story, than this is for you. I received this audiobook for free from the authors FB promotion.

Very good!

Murder, mystery, romance, and a little scandal thrown in. And the characters have a sense of humor. Just the kind of book I like. Highly recommended. Liked the narrator also.

Wonderful storyline

I admit it. I really started this book and didn't like Robert Ferraro's performance immediately. The gumshoe detective voice turned me off. But it wasn't long before I realized that is was quite appropriate for this book and can now acknowledge that he knew what he was doing. The book was great. And at the end, with mystery resolving, it was a comedy of errors that completed the resolution. Great book.

a good detective story

My only regret was that I had not started with book 1. I would recommend this book to someone who likes sort of old fashioned detective novels, but with a twist as his partner is a woman. That doesn't happen all too often, and she was portrayed as very competent too. I liked the narration so think that audible is better than just reading the story.
