About this listen

When the evidence points to two realities, which will you believe?

Two astronomers have detected a strange, pulsing signal from deep space. Within hours, the US government goes into lockdown, restricting airspace and scrubbing scientific data. Was the signal an intercepted communication revealing alarming plans for an enemy’s military strike? Or has humanity at long last found proof of extraterrestrial life?

Caught between two mind-blowing possibilities, Dr. Veronica Chapel leaves her job as a high school science teacher to search for answers with her old friend Malcolm Feldman, a determined journalist, and Ada Park, a brilliant astronomer. Oh, and it also happens to be Dr. Chapel's one chance to redeem her destroyed scientific reputation, no pressure...

As the group digs deeper, they uncover layers of mystery that challenge their grasp of the universe and their place in it. With time running out and the world hanging in the balance, they must navigate a tangled web of corporate secrets, government interference, and ethical dilemmas on a high-stakes journey to uncover a truth that will upend our understanding of the cosmos—and ourselves.

The Signal is directed, edited, and scored by Mark Henry Phillips.

Excellent

Although I genuinely wish the outcome had been more satisfying, the exceptional acting and writing make this a worthwhile listen.

Great production. I wont give away spoilers. It’s kind of a great short story with a really good premise and interesting ideas. I liked it.

the only thing that was lacking was the story was too short and the ending was a bit lame

A great new twist on the “alien conspiracy” genre

I thought I knew where the story was going but boy was a wrong — and gladly so! So unpredictable. The writing, performances, audio direction, and sound design are all top notch. Kudos to everyone to had a hand on making it. Hope there’s more! Great for anyone who likes grounded sci-fi, or just likes a good mystery!

Compelling & Well Done!

I started listening to this on a whim, unsure if I’d truly stay or be interested- not expecting to be- but I was. The story is well paced and interesting.

The voice acting is superb (something I find happily with almost all audible originals).

I think I would have liked the ending to be something more- because it could have opened it up for more story telling- a part two and three. However, I’ll take it for what it is and say that it left me with the feeling that the main character had truly developed and changed- so overall, still great!

Definitely would recommend as an easy, compelling, and entertaining listen.

good short story

It went differently than I expected, and that was refreshing. I note, however. that I wasn't exactly a fan of any of the characters. but ... that, too, was refreshing.

This was completely derivative.

This story was a condensed version of the movie Contact or the book by Carl Sagan. It also was similar to Deception Point by Dan Brown. The performance was good with all the sound effects, but the end was completely predictable and very disappointing. I would avoid this audible not original.

Endings Matter

It really felt like the author took the lazy route out of this book. Overall, it was a good few chapters. However, without closure, without an ending, the book feels unfinished.
