About this listen

There comes a time in every new mother's life when she realizes that all the pregnancy well-wishes and baby shower gifts left her profoundly unqualified for the realities of life with a newborn. Who knew there would be so much crying - and how much of that crying would be coming from the mom?

Best-selling author Dawn Dais believes that a vast conspiracy exists to hide the truth about parenting from expectant mothers for fear that if the truth got out, women would (1) stop having babies or (2) stop bringing them home. Eschewing the adorableness that oozes out of other parenting books, Dais offers real advice from real moms - along with hilarious anecdotes, tips, and the encouragement every new mom needs to survive the first year of parenthood.

Revised and updated with new chapters offering advice for single moms and tips for partners, The Sh!t No One Tells You is a must-have companion for every new mother's sleepless nights and poop-filled days.

This is not a 'guide'- but you might like it

I honestly found only a few useful tips in here. Its mostly the author complaining about all of her issues with the process of becoming a parent. Its generally well written and funny at parts, but I don't think this is the best read if you or your partner are pregnant. If you already have a child and you struggling with the grossness, pain, or general emotions of having a baby you might find it relatable though. Also, it could be a good read years after you've had your babies.
If you are dealing with intense feelings of depression after or before having your baby please seek professional help. Books like this will only make it worse potentially.

Potentially Triggering, Unhelpful.

This book just feels like a frustrated rant from a tired mom; I was expecting helpful tips, useful advice, or general motivational content. What I got was lovely tidbits like "Don't tell your birth story to anyone because it's too gross" (followed immediately by her birth story) and "Wow, babies cry a bunch and you'll be really tired." Who knew?

The author has a lot of hate and resentment in her heart

Maybe 2 or 3 useful tips.
Then get ready to hear 5 hours of complaints.
It appears the author did no research, and only expresses her own opinion and a few of her friends.
I do not recommend.
