Acerca de esta escucha

An intrepid Irish journalist and ace pilot, international best-selling author Glenn Meade writes “thrillers that deliver the goods” (Booklist). Miles apart an ancient scroll is stolen before its revelations are fully translated, and an American priest with long-hidden secrets becomes pope. Now, as millions wonder if this man is the anti-Christ or the Second Messiah, historian Jack Cane and Israeli detective Lela Raul must find the missing scroll and discover the truth—before it’s too late.

The end was horrible. And endless preaching speech by a would be pope/messiah.
Too bad really because 3/4 of the book were really, really good. It was a huge let down.
A chance George Guidall was narrating -one of the best narrators there is on Audible - or I would have stopped when the Jesus preaching began.

A great story till ...

Glenn Meade did an excellent job on this book. It was interesting right up until the end.

Great Book

Narrates by the great
George Guidall, this story captured my attention from beginning to end
The thought that man fails to follow the examples set forth by Jesus the true Messiah, and the fact an false messiah causes the characters therein to question the existence and fulfillment of the Lord's promises and miracles is no less true today. Great read indeed!!!

A STORY FOR THE AGES!!!

The story told here is not a new one. In fact in one form or the other it's been told over and over. I give it a 4 overall only because it is about what I would like to see as true, even while knowing it won't be, at least not in my life time!
How many in this day believe in God anymore, and perhaps more importantly why should they? No matter the belief system of the 3 monotheistic religions we all are disillusioned by them.
Rather it be what some of us perceive as the violence of Islam, the aloofness and perhaps arrogance of Judaism (regardless of its warrant), or the disench

The good, the bad, the ugly

Truly a wonderful read with a even better message. Certainly the message to be more like the messiah is apparent

If you enjoyed Da Vinci Code, or any of Dan Brown's books, you owe it to yourself to try The Second Messiah. It's a sweeping novel with global ramifications. And the plot is not nearly as facile as Mr. Brown's books. The characters are more fully developed and their actions actually make sense. And plot points are not nearly so predictable. It's a thoroughly enjoyable read/listen. Be aware, it is an 'inspirational' novel, although that wasn't quite clear to me before I purchased it. It treads very lightly in that area, though, and I doubt that anyone would find that aspect off-putting. Still, you might want to now....

Finally, George Guidall's read is exceptional. I've been listening to audiobooks for 20+ years, and this is one of the best performances I've ever heard.

Dan Brown, only much better

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

The whole story was rambling on and on. The idea and plot was good but the unraveling was tedious

What was most disappointing about Glenn Meade’s story?

The Story was not consistent. There were parts of it that was well written and then it rambled on. The plot and theory was intriguing but was lost in the ramble.

Which scene was your favorite?

I am afraid it was too vague for me to be enthralled by it. I would say the start of the story was good and then it was a saga..

Could you see The Second Messiah being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Hmmmm I really don't think so.

Any additional comments?

I LOVE Guidell and he did a great performance. It is ONLY due to him I finished this story. I wish it was better written. ( sigh )

Could be better

The narrator was great, as always, and I thought Mr. Meade's previous book "The Sands of Sakkara" (now titled Mission Sphinx and only available in German on audible for some reason??) was much much better. This book was a struggle to finish, and unabashedly tries to emulate the story style and even plot twists found in Dan Brown books, but does so poorly.

Tries too hard to copy Dan Brown
