About this listen

Two thieves want answers. Riyria is born …

For more than a year Royce Melborn has tried to forget Gwen DeLancy, the woman who saved him and his partner Hadrian Blackwater from certain death.

Unable to get her out of his mind, Royce returns to Medford with Hadrian but the two receive a very different reception—Gwen refuses to see them. The victim of abuse by a powerful noble, she suspects that Royce will ignore any danger in his desire for revenge.
By turning the thieves away, Gwen hopes to once more protect them. What she doesn’t realize is what the two are capable of—but she’s about to find out.

Recording Is off

Something is off with the recording. There are frequent pauses in the audio, sometimes for almost 15-20 seconds at a time. At first I thought it was my phone pausing it or my headphones dying, but realized it was the recording itself. Very annoying.

An Excellent Follow-Up To Crown Tower

It is rare that I will purchase both the Aindle and audiobook version of a book. Only books that I cannot put down receive that honor (and funding). The Riyria Chronicles have achieved that honor. Who needs coffee EVERY morning when they can whisper-sync through a book, fully immersed? Another well written novel in the Riyria Chronicles.

Awesome

Where does The Rose and the Thorn rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It ranks in the top 2, It was the first audio book I ever listened to it was possibly the best book that I could have chosen for my first audio book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Rose and the Thorn?

there is only one word needed for this. Duster.

Which character – as performed by Tim Gerard Reynolds – was your favorite?

Royce, I love the way Tim G. Reynolds brought so much gusto to him. I have read the Riyria Revelations, But to hear the way T. G. Reynolds preform as Royce gave me chills, I loved it.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Reuben Hilfred talks to the King in the Midwife's cottage. I cried.

Any additional comments?

Michael J. Sullivan wrote some of the most amazing character in the Fantasy world. Tim Gerad Reynolds brought his characters to life. These gentlemen are truly amazing.

Great addition to the series!!!

I'm reading it in book order, so I know how the series ends. It's a fun way to read the series. I am looking forward to the next.

Can’t get enough of these!

Started off a bit slow with the first chapter on Hilfred, but the rest just sucks you in and doesn’t let you go! Would definitely recommend!

Great story but the pauses got in the way...

Such a great story and performance, marred by the inexplicably long silences throughout the book. I've no idea why the producers felt it necessary to have them. The first pause made me think my app had died or something. Each subsequent long pause made me twitch and reach for my phone, again thinking something was wrong.

It didn't completely ruin the experience for me, but it definitely distracted me when I don't want to be distracted. I'd rather enjoy the story.

Which, by the way, was wonderful. Well done.
