About this listen

Tobin Scott has not been back to Hadley Green since Lily Boudine’s childhood testimony helped send his father to the gallows for stealing the valuable Ashwood jewels. Now a wealthy man, he intends to exact his revenge by destroying Ashwood and its lady. He offers Lily a choice between her life and the livelihoods of the people who depend on the estate. She chooses the former, certain she can hold his dangerous plans at bay.

Lily and Tobin’s game of one-upmanship quickly becomes a delicate dance of seduction, and she realizes he is not the cold, heartless man he tries to seem. In fact, she is certain he is right - his father was innocent. Together, they set out to find the jewels that will restore his family’s honor, and soon their unbridled passion uncovers a shocking secret that will change their lives forever.

Good listen

What did you love best about The Revenge of Lord Eberlin?

The characters

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Revenge of Lord Eberlin?

The ball! It just seemed magical the way it was described and at the ending with snowflakes falling!

Have you listened to any of Justine Eyre???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, a couple other books she has narrated. Same I suppose not bad but not the best either.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not at all, it started out really weird with the hero being so cynical and bitter but then love prevailed and he could not deny his feeling any longer.

Well done!

One of those books that makes you even want to have laundry to do just to give you an excuse to listen while you work. Justine Eyre is a great narrator and, again, makes you think you are listening to a full cast performance. Lily and Eberlin made me fall in love with their love.

Worst Julia London book

The book leaves unanswered questions. I didn’t care for the supposed hero of the book.

Enjoyable!

It seemed like a long wait for this book after the first in the series end abruptly with much of the plot still dangling. Happily the wait was worth it. While this book picks up where the first one left off and hints at another to come it's enjoyable all on its own. Well worth the credit!

Very good listen!

I really enjoyed the second book in the Secrets of Hadley Green series. Justine Eyre give a great performance and provides a great interpretation of Lord Eberlin's hatred for Lily and Lily's righteous indignation in confronting the man.

The only thing I didn't like was Lord Eberlin's internal mantra of "press on" blah, blah, blah. I just didn't find that this added to the story much. I can understand that after everything Tobin endured he needed his own self motivation, but this could have been done without this special little chant.

Regardless I give the book 5 stars because it has a nice mystery that is solved at the end, but not 100% resolved. I liked the characters and the interaction between the characters.

Great listen.

Misleading description

The description talks about them trying to solve a mystery, but they barely do anything related and no real answers are actually given as to what happened to people who died and disappeared. Frustrating.
