Publisher's summary

‘My name is Darcy, I’m your nurse and I’m here to help you.’

I repeat the words I’ve said so many times. Except this time, I don’t mean it…

If you saw me walking down the street, you’d think I was pretty ordinary–I wear the typical crisp, white nursing uniform, my hands are scrubbed clean and you’d have no reason to believe I was anything other than a good citizen. A good nurse.

But looks can be deceiving. You shouldn’t trust me–because I don’t even know if I can trust myself.

Now I stare at the reflection in the mirror–dark smudges under my eyes and blood on my hands–listening for the sound of police sirens.

Because the truth is I had to do something terrible. I broke all the rules a nurse should follow. I wanted someone gone so badly. And now they’re dead because of me.

I’m looking over my shoulder everywhere I go because I’m sure someone knows my secret. Then when my home is broken into I know one simple truth: this isn’t over yet…

It’s only the beginning.

The police are the least of my worries now. But to save myself, am I going to have to kill again?

Not my favorite

Just wasn’t very good. The narration was very monotone and boring. The storyline itself was somewhat ok.

Disappointed

Not Daniel’s best. I won’t be wasting a credit on book two. The beginning is sooooo slow and confusing. The middle is boring and amateurish, the end is disappointing.

Anything But Perfect!

I am a devoted Daniel Hurst fan and have listened to all of his books.

IMHO, Daniel Hurst did not write "The Perfect Nurse".

WHY?

1) Waaay too slow. Repetitious text and no action until Chapter 25.

Where was a "perfect nurse" when needed?

I could have used a shot of adrenaline to help me stay awake.

2) Twists were absurdly eye-rolling.

If Daniel Hurst did indeed pen this "thriller", he must have done so as a 2nd-grade student.

Lauryn Allman's narration was robotic and lifeless.

This book was anything but "perfect" and very, very, very disappointing.

UGH!!!!!

Meh?

Very slow! Took forever to get going. Then when it did, I kept losing interest. I did finish, but it wasn’t great.

Another Amnesia Story

Amnesia as a plot device is very much overused. The central character, Darcy, was in an automobile accident that robbed her of her memory. Despite many gaps in her memory inexplicably, she was able to resume a job as a nurse with a temp agency. Darcy and fellow nurse Pippa were contracted to work for a wealthy retired couple. The wife has had a fall, leaving her with impaired memory and sporadic hostility, Darcy suspects something fish about the couple and decided to spy on them. When the story about the couple and revealed, I rolled my eyes. This was one of the most convoluted stories ever.
Usually I devour anything written by Daniel Hurst but this was a disappointment.
