About this listen

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn comes a new forced proximity, single dad romantic comedy. This steamy, laugh out loud, enemies-to-lovers, small town standalone romance delivers the perfect happily ever after.

What does one do when they completely blow an interview?

If you're me, you pick up a one-night stand with the most gorgeous man you've ever seen..

That's right, after a lousy interview that could have changed everything for me, I headed over to the local small town bar to sulk when the one man I shouldn't want walked in. And when my friend convinced me to take him back to my hotel room, I didn't think about it, I just did it . . . well, I did him.

It was an unforgettable night, but I didn't stay for breakfast. Instead, I got out of there and tried not to think about him again.

Everything was fine until I received a call from the interviewer saying I got the job as the assistant baseball coach at Almond Bay High. I'd be working directly under the one and only Ryland Rowley--my one-night stand.

Now, I'm not only working with him but renting the apartment above his garage. And I have to deal with the fact that he's the man I dream about and can't have while not letting my attraction get in the way of keeping the harmony between us. Sounds easy, doesn't it?

It should have been, except the plan falls apart when my shower breaks, and night after night I have to slip into his house to use the bathroom only to find him in the kitchen, staring me down with those hungry, single dad eyes.

What a perfect ending to the Almond Bay series

Ryland and Gabby were once just a one night stand before Gabby found out that she would be working alongside ryland as his assistant coach and become his tenant. The more time passes, the more they can't stay away from each other. they fight it as long as possible but the urges and the love are too much to ignore. The angst, banter, and spicy scenes between Ryland and Gabby where everything I would expect from MQ. Laughing, heart-wrenching scenes and tears ensued. Ryland's relationship with Mac is the cutest thing ever! Gabby stepping in to help ryland become the best uncle-dad was just as cute. The epilogue had me in tears. Thanks Megan for another five star listen!

5 STARS! Full of heartfelt moments, heat & humor!

A heartfelt and spicy baseball-themed romance, Meghan Quinn hits it out of the park with The Path to Loving Him! Ryland, a dedicated high school baseball coach, teacher and single dad/guardian who is raising niece after the tragic passing of his sister, finds his world turned upside down when Gabby, his fiery and confident newly hired—unbeknownst to him!—assistant coach and he realizes that she is his tenant in the new house he just bought for his niece, Mac, and himself.

The sizzling one-night stand they shared before she’s offered the job ignites this sizzling, enemies-to-lovers romance. Full of electric chemistry and emotional depth, Meghan masterfully balances her signature humor with heat and heartfelt moments, crafting an authentic and entertaining small-town love story that kept me smiling from cover to cover. I listened to the audiobook, narrated in duet by Samantha Brentmoor and Sebastian York, who did an incredible job bringing these characters to life in my ears! Five smooches from me for The Path to Loving Him by Meghan Quinn!

🫶🏼 Found Family

This is Book 3 in the Almond Bay series and while it can be read as a standalone, starting with Books 1 & 2 helps lay the foundation for this story. The entire Rowley clan pulls on your heartstrings, and you need all of their stories.

What is supposed to be a one-night stand for both Ryland and Gabby turns into a life changing chain of events that bring these two together like they are supposed to be.

Gabby is in Almond Bay to interview for the assistant coaching position for the boy’s high school baseball team and Ryland is the head coach. The school board has decided that he doesn’t need to be a part of the interviews and is pissed about. He commiserates with his best friend Abel and Abel thinks he needs to sex it out of his system.

They head to the bar next door where he spies Gabby sitting along. Gabby comes on strong because her BFF Bower has convinced her she needs to work out her frustrations when Ryland walks in the bar. Ryland was the baseball coach for Gabby’s brother Bennett when he was in high school and Gabby is upset that he doesn’t even recognize her. She realizes that she will not be getting the job and should take advantage of the situation and Ryland. So here we are, Chapter 2 and the spice is right there in front of us. Holy hot scene!!

In a twist of fate, Gabby gets the job in Almond Bay and is set to start teaching and coaching after the summer. They help her secure housing and it happens to the apartment above the garage at the purple house in town. The house that Ryland just bought! Also, day 2 and her shower breaks. It will take two weeks to fix so she has to use the shower in Ryland’s house. Nothing awkward about that right . . . This leads to all kinds of hot, spicy scenes between these two! Ice cream 🍨 on the kitchen table!!

The way Ryland takes care of his niece, Mac (MacKenzie), is so touching and heartwarming. He has taken custody of her because he lost his sister to breast cancer in the past year. His sisters, Hattie and Aubree, help when needed and their guys love Mac just as much. Wyatt, Aubree’s husband, plays horsey with Mac which includes Wyatt on all fours with a rainbow wig and a unicorn horn. The way this family supports each other and shows up where needed is so important.

Gabby and Ryland swear they are done hooking up with each other as the summer comes to a close and they get close to working together. As they try to avoid each other, the tension continues to build and it is more than they can take. The banter between him and Gabby is so good but also the banter between the siblings, Hayes, Wyatt, and Bower is just perfect. So fun and so snarky!

As they grow closer, Ryland and Gabby share their childhood trauma and how it has shaped their work ethic and need to protect those that they love and build walls around their hearts. They both realize that they need to let each other in and take care of each other.

It is an exciting day when Gabby finds out that Bennett is getting called up to the Big Show. Gabby and Ryland get to go watch his major league debut – it was a magical day for all of them.

There are so many family, heartwarming moments in this book. It is the perfect addition to the Almond Bay series. The way this book has a stranglehold on me!! I love both Gabby & Ryland but them together is beautiful & poetic.

One last thing – the EPILOGUE!!! It is an entire tissue box alert! Talk about tears streaming, snot running, loud sobbing at the end. Of course, I finished this at 2am so the sobbing was kept to a quiet sob but dear goodness, it was definitely sob worthy!

@meganquinn – please tell us we will find out about Bennett and Bower’s special “friendship” and will we ever find out about Abel’s back story?

Enjoy Reading my friends! Peace ☮️ and Love ❤️

All the stars for Ryland and Gabby

I've really enjoyed this series but this book has to be my favorite!! This audiobook was soooo good! Sebastian York was the perfect Ryland (who's a bit of a grouch) and Samanta Brentmoor as Gabby & Mac was perfect!! Her little kid narration just melted my heart!!

These two come from a childhood of trauma. Where they had to struggle in different ways but took care of their siblings. We've seen bits of this through the series with Ryland. Gabby and her brother ended up in the foster system and it was Gabby who fought hard to keep a roof over their heads and to get her brother to the BIG SHOW!

I loved how after an amazing one night stand they think they will never see each other again. However, things just keep falling into place that they are part of each others lives. My favorite part was them saying they didn't think they should be friends with benefits, yet these two sure kept falling into situations that had them keep hooking up!

This book made me laugh and cry and laugh some more! If you like spice there's lots of that too! It's probably in my top three of Meghan Quinn books now!
