About this listen

According to the Buddha, no one can attain basic sanity or enlightenment without practicing meditation. The teachings given here on the outlook and technique of meditation provide the foundation that every practitioner needs to awaken as the Buddha did. Trungpa teaches us to let go of the urge to make meditation serve our ambition; thus we can relax into openness. We are shown how the deliberate practice of mindfulness develops into contrived awareness, and we discover the world of insight that awareness reveals. We learn of a subtle psychological stage set that we carry with us everywhere and unwittingly use to structure all our experience - and we find that meditation gradually carries us beyond this and beyond ego altogether to the experience of unconditioned freedom.

a bit confusing and complicated for understanding, and not the best format for an audio book, but the teachings are valuable.

I found great value in this audiobook. It presents some very unique perspectives and explanations that really helped me wrap my head around some concepts and expectations in regards to meditation.
I wouldn't recommend this as a starter book for the very beginner, but very good for anyone beyond the basics of Buddhism.

Brilliant, honest and mesmerizing. Elfer's narration captures the spirit. Go Shambhala! Mudita fellow Beings! Meditate

Trungpa Rinchope is brutally honest in truth!

The juxtaposition of a deep teaching of how to quiet the mind and slow the furious pace and pain of life with a rapid, aggressive, furious reading of the material is almost unbearable. I had to slow down the reading to 80%. These teachings require some second level thought, and the narration is so rapid, it just runs over thought with a speeding dump truck.

SLOW DOWN

I have degree in Comparitive Religion... Best book so far. Love an "F" bomb with my spirituality.

Should be longer
