Acerca de esta escucha

From the author of The Secret Society of Salzburg comes a powerful and moving story of bravery and resilience in World War II Paris and one woman who must face impossible choices to survive…

Paris, 1940

German tanks rumble through the streets of Paris, forcing frightened citizens to flee. But not everyone has the luxury to leave. Camille Lacroix, a chambermaid at the world-famous Hôtel Ritz, must stay to support her family back home in Brittany. Desperate to earn money, Camille also acts as a lady’s maid for longtime guest Vivian Miller, a glamorous American widow—and a Nazi sympathizer.

Despite her distrust of the woman, Camille turns to Vivian when her friend and fellow hotel maid Rachel Berman needs help getting out of Paris. It’s then that Camille discovers that Vivian is not what she seems… The American has been using her wealth and connections to secretly obtain travel papers for Jewish refugees.

While they're hiding Rachel in an underground bunker under a Nazi’s nose, a daring escape plan is hatched. But as the net grows tighter, and the Germans more ruthless, Camille’s courage will be tested to the extreme…

Wonderful narrator

I appreciated the relationship between Camille and Vivian, how it was often trusting but they couldn’t trust 100%. The narrator was also wonderful.

Standard WWII novel but a little different

A very powerful story woven around three women in Paris. The story kept me engaged, I felt like I was in the story at times. And it kept me on the edge of my seat! Lots of twists and turns! An excellent read.

Very powerful.

The narration of this book is what captured my attention. I find myself choosing WW11 stories as of late, and this one did not disappoint. I love that there were 3 very distinct voices telling their story, and each one was perfect for the role they were portraying. Looking for more brave tales like this.

Loved the three narrators

I loved the book and the story. I struggled with the narrator who read Vivian’s story. I enjoyed the other narrators

Amazing bravery

I enjoyed the depth of the characters feelings of fear, friendship, and questioning trust of friendship, yet out of fear giving into trust. I enjoyed the anticipation of what was going to happen next in each of their lives. Renee, I lost sleep over this one. Couldn’t put it down. I enjoyed the ending.

Finding light through the fog of unsure trust, differences, and hope for survival.

The transitions from character to character were very smooth and easy to follow. I will look for more of this author’s work.

I really enjoyed the three different narrators, one for each main characters.
