I love first contact stories with the main character being military/veteran. I like the story except for the main character Gordy who is being portrayed as the typical "ugly American".

Jamie does it again.
Character and Story that inspire you to want to keep listening. Jamie is very good at creating a fun adventure that draws you in. My only complaint is I have to wait for him to write the next book.

bad writing
This story is awful. know it all MC who spends zero time thinking or learning about his new situation with advanced aliens so stupid they apparently know nothing about defense. Plot armor protects this uninteresting mc who becomes a genius making simple suggestions.
