Winner of the Bram Stoker Award

Evie once again leaves her world behind to rescue Blight Harbor’s ghosts in this “deliciously dark and gripping” (Kirkus Reviews) second book in the middle grade Blight Harbor trilogy that’s reminiscent of Doll Bones and Small Spaces.

Evie Von Rathe has been home for only a few weeks from her adventure in the strange world of seven houses when Blight Harbor’s beloved ghosts begin to disappear. Did they leave without saying goodbye, or has something gone horribly wrong? Soon Evie is invited to a mysterious council meeting, where she learns about the Dark Sun Side and a terrible secret.

Yes, the ghosts have gone missing. And that means serious trouble.

With the help of an eleven-year-old (or 111-year-old, but who’s counting) ghost named Lark, trusty Bird, and a plump ghost spider, Evie must find a way to defeat the vicious Nighthouse Keeper responsible for the missing ghosts, save her otherworldly friends, and find her way home from the Dark Sun Side before she’s trapped there forever.

Lora Senf sends us back to Blight Harbor

In THE NIGHTHOUSE KEEPER, Lora Senf sends us back to Blight Harbor, the seventh most haunted town, in Book 2 of the Blight Harbor trilogy, where ghosts live among the living residents. We follow Evelyn Von Rathe after the events of THE CLACKITY, as she investigates why some of the town's ghostly residents begin to disappear without a trace.
With Evie's trusty sidekick, Bird, she meets a new character named Lark and her own trusty sidekick. Clyde the spider to help her along the way. Lark is a really wonderful side character as charming and lovable as Evie herself, and is definitely a standout character and a welcome addition to the story.

The Nighthouse Keeper tugs at the heartstrings due to Senf's creative world building and messages of love and family, while at the same time remaining spooky and scary, but still appropriate for young readers. Blight Harbor is a great place for young readers to get into both the horror and fantasy genres. For fans of Coraline and The Clackity (book 1), The Nighthouse Keeper is another delight.

Lastly, I've never heard a more suited narrator for Evie Von Rathe and the Blight Harbor stories than Kimberly Woods. Her reading is absolutely wonderful and helps give Evie a wonderful and memorable voice. Truly stunning!
I love this series and can't wait for Book 3.
