Publisher's summary

CBS NEW YORK BOOK CLUB PICK • Daphne and Amber Parrish are thrust back into each other’s lives upon the resurgence of a long-forgotten threat, forcing a vicious game of cat and mouse where everything is on the line, in this thrilling sequel to the million-copy-bestselling Reese’s Book Club pick The Last Mrs. Parrish.

“Delicious and shocking, The Next Mrs. Parrish is an incredibly entertaining and compulsive tale of revenge and deception you won’t want to miss.”—Jeneva Rose, New York Times bestselling author of You Shouldn’t Have Come Here

Amber Patterson Parrish has come a long way. Hard work and immaculate planning turned her from invisible wallflower to prominent socialite, though there have been bumps along the way. Less than a year after her husband Jackson’s tax-evasion scandal, Amber reigns supreme over the Bishops Harbor community. But with Jackson being released from prison, Amber’s free time—and money—is vanishing.

Meanwhile, Daphne Parrish left Bishops Harbor after her divorce from Jackson, swearing she would never go back. But when one of her daughters runs away from home, desperate to see her father, Daphne agrees to return for the summer for their daughters’ sake. Jackson swears he’s a changed man, but Daphne knows all too well that he can’t be trusted.

When a ghost from Amber’s past emerges looking for revenge, these three figures find unlikely allies in one another. But who is playing who? When all is said and done, they’ll have to fight tooth and nail for everything they have left in this zero-sum game.

With shocking turns and entertaining characters, The Next Mrs. Parrish will make you rethink everything you thought you knew about duplicity and betrayal.

Daphne

The book was hard to put down, but I wish the strong woman Daphne was in the first book had returned.

Not a spoiler-just an opinion.
The plot had to begin somehow, but the professional advice given in the beginning was hard to believe. (and)
I completely follow the plot line of (take care of ) the kids, but what good would she have been to them dead?

Same story but worthwhile

3.5 STARS

If you’re a fan of “the end justify the means” books, you’ll probably enjoy THE NEXT MRS PARRISH more than me.

Who’s gaslighting whom is the main quandary in the third installment of the Mrs Parrish series. Told from the points of view of Daisy Ann (from .5 THE FIRST SHOT), Amber and Daphne right after Jackson’s early release from prison, Amber is the catalyst for strife between each of the women separately, though they give as good as they receive.

Though each woman fell on different places in the good vs evil spectrum, none was likable or easy for me to champion. Amber seemed to have no redeeming characteristics, which to me feels like I’m being spoon fed how I’m supposed to think about her. Daphne was more nuanced, but made stupid decision after stupid decision and I think the writers wanted me to see her as a loving mother. Spoiler alter: I didn’t. Daisy Ann could have been rootable, but she mostly was a ball of anger with a few good deeds thrown in to appear likable.

Talulah was my favorite character in THE LAST MRS PARRISH, but both she and Bella didn’t do it for me. Jackson, though he claimed to have changed, was just as one-dimensional. Only two-year-old Jacks was tolerable.

I usually enjoy sequels, but not when they’re regurgitations of the previous books.

No Really - Amber & Jackson stopped forever?

This was a great addition to the other “Ms Parrish” novels.

I recommend it for summer vacay reading because it is not too deep, but is spicy enough to hold one’s attention from beginning to end while sitting on the beach or lounging at the pool.

Thank you Amber & Jackson for continuing to be your mean and nasty selves.

But whew, living in this revenge-driven soap opera was exhausting! Time for a nap.

Enjoyed it!

So good!!

I loved this! It kept my attention from the very beginning to the end. I loved the ending! The only thing I wish is that I would have known The First Shot was the first in the trilogy. I’m now going to read that after reading these two. Enjoy!

Loved it!

It’s rare that a sequel is as good as the first book like this one is!

Excellent!

I could not wait until this book came out and devoured it. It was excellent, caught me immediately just like the first one. So much fun I did not want it to end. One of my favorite authors never disappoints.

Read the Whole Series

I enjoyed this book and series. I recommend all the books, including the prequel The First Shot. Once you have a whole understanding of the series in a while then the end of this makes more sense.
