Publisher's summary
When five very different mothers met in their NCT class three years ago, they had no idea that their lives were to become inextricably entwined.
There's Bella, stay-at-home mum of Teddy. She suffered postpartum psychosis after Teddy's birth. There's Chrissy, divorce lawyer, married to Russell. They're having some problems with their sex life. There's Electra, mother to twins, who is struggling with her son's behaviour. There's Skye, a single mother, who used a sperm donor to have her baby. Then there's Jen. She was supposed to be a mother, but it hasn't worked out like she expected.
In fact, nothing has worked out quite like any of them expected, and now Bella's husband is missing - after stealing a life-changing amount of money from the accountancy he works at. The police want to get to the bottom of what happened, yet the five women seem to be hiding something. But what are they hiding? What secrets could possibly be holding these very different women together?
For fans of Big Little Lies, Friend Request and He Said/She Said, this is first-class psychological suspense from the critically acclaimed Sarah J Naughton.

When a young man is found gruesomely murdered in a London houseboat, it triggers questions about three women who knew him. Laura is the troubled one-night-stand last seen in the victim’s home. Carla is his grief-stricken aunt, already mourning the recent death of yet another family member. And Miriam is the nosy neighbor clearly keeping secrets from the police. Three women with separate connections to the victim. Three women who are – for different reasons – simmering with resentment. Who are, whether they know it or not, burning to right the wrongs done to them.

Emma Carpenter lives in isolation with her golden retriever Laika, house-sitting an old beachfront home on the rainy Washington coast. Her only human contact is her enigmatic old neighbor, Deek, and (via text) the house’s owner, Jules. One day, she reads a poorly written—but gruesome—horror novel by the author H. G. My husband is a doctor. He’s smart and charming, and everybody trusts him. Except me. On the surface, it looks like I have it all–the perfect marriage, the perfect husband, the perfect life. But it’s far from the truth. Doctor Drew Devlin is not the respectable figure he makes out to be. The reason we moved to this beautiful, old property with a gorgeous view of the sea was because we needed to put our past behind us. It should’ve been a fresh start for us both.

Not believable at all
The character development was poor. The ending was partly predictable, but the last twist was so far-fetched and unbelievable and it left me disappointed, especially because it ruined the only aspect of the book I appreciated - the friendship. I was hoping this book would have a Bad Sisters vibe, but the characters are far less relatable/realistic and the storyline is way worse. I did love the narrator. She was excellent.

Fun unpredictable mystery I couldn’t guess what or who was going on even to the end. Engaging women whom one could relate to their many experiences.
