'A moving novel of strength and resistance in the face of evil but also an inspiring journey of resilience after loss' Erin Litteken

'I will never forget what the Nazi did to me. Never'

1940, Nazi-occupied Paris. A powerful story of love, tragedy and incredible courage, about one woman whose life is ripped apart by war and risks everything to seek justice.

As Nazis patrol the streets of the French capital, Tiena is alone, desperate and on the run. After defending herself against the force of an officer, she must find a new identity in order to survive.

An accidental meeting with members of the Resistance gives her a lifeline, as she is offered the chance to reinvent herself as perfumer Angéline De Cadieux.

However Angéline will never forget what happened to her, and will do everything she can to seek revenge. But vengeance can be a dangerous game, and Angeline can only hide her true identity for so long before her past catches up with her, with some devastating consequences...

Paris, 2003. When the opportunity arises for aspiring journalist Emma Keane to interview world renowned perfumer Madame De Cadieux about her life during World War Two, she is determined to take it. There are secrets from her own family history that she hopes Angéline may be able to help unlock.

But nothing can prepare Emma for Angéline's story, and one thing is for certain - it will change her own life forever…

An absolutely heartbreaking, unforgettable historical novel of war, sacrifice and survival, from the bestselling author of The Resistance Girl. Perfect for fans of Suzanne Goldring, Ella Carey and Catherine Hokin.

This is a story that blossoms and grows more and more interesting. Well worth a read, it will make you feel as if you are there.

Captivating

Despite my description, I did finish it, and must admit it was entertaining to a degree. The narration is terrible with the voice of "Madame" switching between a French accent and then American when she is self reflecting. The perfume formulas at the beginning of each chapter are unnecessary and seem pointless. I must give the author credit as her historical facts are correct, although I'm not sure the Concorde was still in service in 2003.

Corny predictable tear-jerker

I really enjoyed listening to this story. At times I did have trouble with the same voice for Madame and Emma but I still am so glad I listened.

Loved the story!

Through so much about the story I enjoy it, but it was very drawn out, and the changing of accents, for Madame was very confusing.

Drawn out !

It was an eye opener about the gypsy population. Although it was a slow start the story go interesting in the 2nd half! I found it a bit irritating to listen to perfume recipes at the start of each chapter and started to not hear them! But overall the story line was interesting.

Interesting slant on the WW

WELL DONE!

I stuck it out despite wanting to toss it many times during the first few hours.

The story itself was quite enjoyable but the Narrator made this almost unbearable. Every single time she attempted a French word or tried for a decent accent it became cringe worthy.

Good Story, Terrible Narrator

It took a little to get into it but what a great story of survival , the story spans from 1930s to early2000

Great story
