About this listen

Aurora Cross just got the educational opportunity of a lifetime—to complete her coastal biology thesis at one of Maine’s most iconic lighthouses. She didn’t realize the toughest, most reclusive creature inhabiting the keep was a broody artist with more secrets than the sea.

Kit Kinkade has had enough of the world. He returned from war and even with the support of his family, found no shelter from his demons. So, he relegated himself to the most secluded spot in town—stranded by the sea as the newest lightkeeper of the Friendship lighthouse.

Left alone with his paints and his purpose, Kit was perfectly happy to withdraw from the world until he stumbles over the bright-eyed, beautiful woman invading his solitude for the next three months.

However, if Aurora is good at one thing, it’s learning. She’s good at observing and studying, noting the smallest changes and the slightest shifts that can cause marine life—and grumpy men—to evolve.

When one kiss brings Kit out of his darkness and into her world, Aurora will do everything she can to show him there’s a place for him there… and in her heart.

Kit and Aurora 💖

The Lightkeeper is the second book the Kinkades series, and it is so good! Kit Kinkade has PTSD from 2 separate traumas, and he keeps to himself at the lighthouse. Aurora is a biology nerd who loves sea creatures, and had permission to do research at the lighthouse to Kit’s disgust! He wanted her just as much as he wanted to her to leave. Aurora slowly took down his walls. Every time he pushed and pushed backed, and they fell in a soul deep love that was gorgeous. I love the plot, the romance, the character development, and the PTSD and anxiety rep.

Superb narration!

Both narrators did an outstanding job. Stephen Dexter is one of my favorites and he certainly did not disappoint this time either! The story is gut wrenching, yet heartwarming. Recommended!

I want lessons from Kit!

Story: 9/10
Spice: 4/5
Spice Hierarchy:Spicy
Narration: 4/5, dual

Fate/tragedy didn’t get Kit just once. No. It got him twice. So he’s been the lighthouse keeper for a decade now. He barely speaks with his family and that’s just how he likes it. Until Aurora shows up to study the marine wildlife along the coast by the lighthouse. She perfectly disrupts the grumpy man while leading about more than marine wildlife.

I love the suspense series she has written. But man oh man. The Kinkades are like a Hallmark movie with some top spice mixed in.

I read The Woodsman when it released in December 2022 and with The Candlemaker releasing in 2 weeks I knew I wanted to get back to the Kinkades. This is just a great story with Aurora being a strong FMC being confident in her quirks and personality while allowing Kit a chance to heal and grow. I would be willing to do experimentation with Kit. 🔥

The audio was amazing and a great way to prepare. I cannot imagine anyone besides Stephen Dexter for Kit. His performance was outstanding. Samantha Summers made Aurora’s character.

Loved Kit’s story

I love her books but this one had me crying over the emotion from the characters. I can’t wait to see who’s next in this series!
