Prior to reading this, I had never considered the possibility of an EMP or its devastating effects on society. Whether realistic or not, this set of books made me think about how I would handle life without electricity, cell phones, or resources we all take for granted in our everyday lives. I liked that the two books explored the same event from two totally different perspectives. The characters in both books are well developed and relatable. I thought the narration was pretty good (although I admit I sped it up to make it flow a little better). Overall I think the plot is engaging and enjoyable. I would recommend this set to anyone that likes books that explore a world after a catastrophic anomaly.
Interesting Perspective of an Apocalypse

Not well researched.

it's hard to imagine somebody that's been prepping for most of their life only having a pistol or two for protection. the protection prepared for by Ethan is about what I would have expected for a city boy who's total crabs included an extra week of groceries. the other primary implausibility factor was repeatedly letting the bad guy walkaway. Charlie and Ethan have the blood of dozens if not hundreds of people on their hands. every victim the bad guy after their first couple encounters is at least in part their fault.
on the second book in this collection the author has no clue about the subject she is writing on. she might be a great author and other genres oh, I don't know, but she doesn't know anything about human nature after a shtf event and nothing about an EMP.
while an EMT may not destroy the solar panels on a system oh, it would surely Wipe Out the charge controller and inverter. also on the solar system issues in this book, taking out one panel would not immediately shut off your power. if it did, then you obviously have no battery storage and therefore have no lights and no power at night. for the narrator, believe it or not, not every male sounds like a southern gang member on drugs.
okay book but not very plausible
