Anika DuPont—Annie to her friends—is entering the final semester of her Superpower Studies degree at Tokyexico University. All she really wants before school starts is a nice, normal Christmas with her family, clear boundaries between herself and her superhero persona, and no shop talk. Anyway, despite her efforts, Annie's schoolwork has been taking a backseat to her career as a superhero on an alien reality TV show using her city as a set and her friends as Extras.
Meanwhile, the campus group APPEAL and her friend Su-Bin have been advocating for Extras' rights, and they're starting to make an uncomfortable amount of sense. But before Annie can question whether she's on the right side of history, she's got to help the heroes beat the villains in the ongoing Power War.
