About this listen

At 4:20am, on June 18, 2013 journalist Michael Hastings died in a fiery car accident that left more questions than clues about his death. Six years before Hastings's fiancee died when her convoy was attacked by insurgents in Iraq. Her charred body was found in the remains of her car after grenades had been tossed underneath turning the gas tank into a bomb. During the years between these tragic events Hastings made several enemies and fewer friends as he exposed the crimes and antics of government and military officials.
This book covers the life and times of Michael Hastings while trying to figure out the events leading up to the early morning hours of June 18, 2013. In 2005, Hastings was sent to Iraq to cover the war for Newsweek. Later he would embed himself with soldiers in Afghanistan that would lead to the resignation of the top general of the war. In 2008 and 2012 Hastings would cover the election campaigns of John McCain, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama. In 2012 the war on journalists started and Hastings found himself in the crosshairs of the Federal Government.
Clues are everywhere, the list of suspects is long, and maybe when you go over the evidence yourself you can decide for yourself what happened on that morning.
