About this listen

211 BCE.

The Roman invasion from the western seas is imminent, and from the south the Spartans are burning and pillaging their way north.

Battle-hardened Philopoemen believes the Achean League is facing annihilation if it does not arm. But without a formal army or cavalry, they don't stand a chance. Convincing his friend and healer Alexanor that the threat is real, together they begin to build a massive cavalry guard from the ground up - one that will fight on all fronts.

It is the last roll of the dice for the Achean League. But Alexanor knows Philopoemen is one of the greatest warriors Greece has ever known - the New Achilles. The Last Greek.

A great listen A wonderful Historical Novel

I’m a fan of Mr. Cameron well researched and great characters development and back stories so essential for a good historical novel in my view. This is one of several books a series that grabs you and takes you on an enjoyable trip back in time. Action packed battles. and interesting romantic relationships. We presented by John Telfer I love his voice I’am a fan. I’m more of a fan of the last century BCE and First century CE. Mr. Cameron has opened a new era of history for me. I’m old and broken and have a lot of time and Audible books keep me occupied. I often go back and listen again and grateful for books like this wonderful work.

Phenomenal

I love how this book follows the timeline of Greek history. Although some characters are fictional, Christian Cameron was able to put a lot of the historic events into this book with a twist of fiction based storylines to culminate it into a story of a heroism and friendship. A must read for those who love Greek history and tales of a legendary Greek man Philopoemen.

better than the original

I liked "new Achilles ", but the sequel is superior to original book in every sense. the best of historical action genre up to now, even better than the "killer of men" by the same author
