About this listen

A lady is nothing without her reputation. Jilted and humiliated by her once-betrothed, Lady Abigail Lacey is the laughing stock of London. Worse still, the humiliation is now reflecting badly on her family. Her brother, the duke of Manchester, is desperate...until he finds a way to rescue his sister’s damaged reputation and remove her from the glare of disapproving society.

He must marry her off. Quickly.

When Rector Joseph Fox drops by the Lacey household, he certainly didn’t expect to leave as a man engaged to a long-time family friend! Yet while he never could have aspired to have her, Lady Abigail always ignited a forbidden longing in him. But Abigail has one condition - their marriage is to be void of passion or physical pleasures once she becomes with child. Faced with a platonic marriage of convenience, Joseph is determined to embark on a sensuous adventure with only one goal: to seduce his new wife....

I very much enjoy this series but this has been my least favorite of the 1st set of books. I would have preferred the childhood 1st love angle played up more rather than the silly self doubt and ridiculous pact these 2 made. It was aggravating to hear the same internal monologs repeated over and over. Also it was a bit disappointing to know who the culprit was from the beginning. With the lack of a intriguing storyline the author filled the pages with several sexual encounters. These were written in a very classy style but again it was sort of the same thing repeated over and over.

I gave it 4 stars but I think it was more like 3.5 as I never came to like the heroine, Abigail.

Narration was ok but I preferred the women narrator if the 1st 2 books.

Good but a little repetitive. Not much intrigue.

Very good addition to the series. Enjoyed this book very much even though Abigail got on my nerves a bit. Crazy Lady Durham had planned to marryJoseph for his money but when he returns home with Abigail as his bride, she sets out to get rid of Abigail so she can marry Joseph and gain access to his money. Joseph and Abigail struggle with their supposed marriage of convenience even though they both apparently have deep feelings for each other. It all made for an entertaining read. Really enjoying this series.

I enjoyed the story- it's a nice take on the standard arranged marriage in historical romance novels.
The clipped tone of the heroine was a bit annoying. Sounded like perpetual complaining tone

Good story - didn't like the voice

I thoroughly enjoyed this read.
This one has more suspense than the others. When I thought I knew who was doing it it lead to someone else.
I highly recommend this book.

Phenomenal read

The story was good. The heroine Abigail was a bit annoying and immature at the onset, but actually saw that what she was doing didn't make a lot of sense as the story went on. The hero Joseph was a bit clueless and had some insecurities to deal with. it all came together at the end.

Not bad

I loved the story bit not the narration. The narrator's voice sounded very stilted and mechanical.

great story, terrible narration...

the story is repetitive. The men are forceful, selfish, inconsiderate and controlling. But eventually it becomes a sweet romance and OK story.

repetitive but decent listen

I was disappointed that the husband was so naive... it just doesn't make since some of the mistakes he makes regarding his wife's wellbeing.. when he didn't know who was after her...smh but other then that readable.. and the undercover guy was useless...

this story was told very well.. but

This is a different reader than the first 2 books. She seems to have a bit of a lisp, often trailing/overemphasizing the "s" sound. It's a bit annoying.

Lisp??
