The King's Destiny is book two in the Corvidae Guard series.

Will the king fulfill his destiny, or will he be nothing more than a dead male walking?

After the execution, the Incubus’ curse takes hold. Bond broken with his mate, the first vampire to sit on the fae throne finds solace in nothing. Trying to rid himself of all reminders, he sets on a path of destruction.

In order to save a trusted friend and member of the Corvidae Guard, the king strikes a deal with the gods, sealing his fate.

Danger is lurking. The Realms are changing. However, most are too worried about their own affairs to pay attention.

Wow!

Crazy drama! I wasn't prepared for this book, as it's been a while since I read Shattered Lives. Book one was mostly lovely, but book two was totally traumatic! Spoiler ahead!

I really wanted immediately to find that Monty and Zachariah had mended fences. Instead, I got immersed in several tangential plots that are driving me crazy with wanting to know MORE! Angels and demons and different theologies, oh my! There is so much angst in this story! The forward really tugged at my heart, as I've had some hurdles to jump in my personal life, too, and I recognize the need to work through some pretty crazy curveballs. The ridicule and bullheadedness particularly got my spine up. Anyway, this is exceptional fantasy, but not for the faint of heart. Poignant and beautiful, yet nervewracking! The ending left me wanting so much more!

The writer sticks with narrator Keval Shah! Yeah!

Rissa Blakeley's 'The King's Destiny, Corvidae Guard Book 2' (narrated by Keval Shah) continues the promise we were given in Book 1! Starting with her totally mind-blowing premise for her series--in a world where Fae and Vampires are against one another, a vampire is awarded the crown to rule the realm! Book 2 picks up right where book one ends, giving the reader unparalleled continuity with King Zachariah's story. After the execution, the incubus' curse takes effect which results in a broken bond between Zachariah and his mate Monty. Both men are left bereft and we readers are left hoping that Rissa Blakeley will fix the mess before the book ends. The writer's story encompasses a universe full of angels and demons, goddesses and gods, vampires and fae as well as other mythical creatures. They conspire with and against one another in ways that may not bode well for the realms that are spiraling towards chaos. For all that goes on, many are not noticing being more concerned about their own problems. Once again the author gives us a book that is richly complex and deliciously sensual with incredible character development--they grow through the events in the narrative in discernable, definitive ways. The world-building is nothing short of astounding as both pacing (the rate by which key elements are introduced in the story) and balance (the distribution of varying types of elements in the narrative) are present! Such a shame I cannot rate it more than five stars! Rissa Blakeley sticks with a sure enough good thing by having Keval Shah continue narration for her incredible series. His beautiful accent and his wonderful reading of the work are just so perfect for the story.
