Acerca de esta escucha

A mysterious object threatens to destroy our solar system. The survival of humankind is at risk, but nobody takes the warning of young astrophysicist Maribel Pedreira seriously. At the same time, an exiled crew of outcasts mines for rare minerals on a lone asteroid.

When other scientists finally acknowledge Pedreira's alarming discovery, it becomes clear that these outcasts are the only ones who may be able to save our world, knowing that the Hole hurtles inexorably toward the sun.

great story and only one thing upset me which was his view on political progressives. painting them out to be terrorists is extremely wrong, unless you love dictators and fascism...

overall great read!

Interesting characters and a good premise without the weight of “seven eyes”. Good comedy. If only Syfy picked this up....

A good Sunday read

The narration didn't kill the story, but some characters are like caricatures. It was a if English was a second language to the narrator and they were using ridiculous stereotypes of an American as their source material.

Decent story, odd narration at times

I liked very much the first book of this series. It was interesting, humorous and informative. If you’re into hard science-fiction, you’ll enjoy this one. Now straight to the next book. I hope it will be as good as this one.
The lector did an awesome performance as well

Really interesting

As usual for Morris, the science parts are fantastic, with the fiction less polished. In this case however, the plot lines and dialogue are truly ludicrous. I'm a huge fan of many of his other books, but the dialogue and plot are so poorly executed that I laughed out loud many times while slogging to get through this one. He also seems to have forgotten how to form contractions? It's always "you are, it is, cannot," and it just makes the dialogue sound like some bizarre postmodern Shakespearean prose.
all that said, if you are better at overlooking things like that, and totally nonsensical plot points about interpersonal relationships, and you enjoy his other work, give it a shot.

Not his best work

the end was a let down, the abruptness was like watching a beautiful train derail and the story fall off

enjoyed the premise

The science and the problem that they have to solve is pretty interesting. The characters are not. The narrator did a good job, but most of the dialogue is very robotic and not how people speak. Part of this is probably the narrator's choice in voices, but mostly, the characters are just not well written. There's very little emotional attachment to the idea that this is a solar system extinction event. The characters are way too level headed and accepting of this information. Also, the completely unnecessary line describing the size of Maria's breasts? ...why? And sooooo much detail about how a man, a woman and a paraplegic person individually pee and poop in zero gravity. Coooool. Anyway, the solution is not quite, but basically a Deus Ex Machina, 11th hour revelation.

Decent concept, disappointing characters

Just about all of the “Science Fiction” stories now a days are more Fantasy then Science. But not books written by Brandon Q. Morris.
Mr. Morris shows us that it is still possible to learn about REAL Science and then pass that knowledge along in an easy to understand and entertaining fashion. Combine that with the GREAT auditory skills of Daniel Tomas May and you have a FANTASTIC REAL Science Fiction book.

Clear and full of REAL Science

Good science, futurism somewhat lacking, a female protagonist, but character development is weak. Male characters better developed. It’s the first time I understood living in a simulation.

Well above average sci-fi
